MRELEKTRIK
Can I have Vortex installed on a different drive but have the mods download and deployment folders on the same drive as my game and have it still work correctly. I had to install Skyrim on to my os drive because I hade an audio bug from it being installed on a seperate drive that I did not know how to fix, but moving to the os drive did seem to work. MRELEKTRIK
Just wanted to make sure. Thank god. I really didn't want to have to go through installing that again as well. Do you per chance know why I was getting that audio bug and if there is a potential fix for it? I see it all over the web but it doesn't seem like everyone gets it or that there is a way to fix it for those affected.
MRELEKTRIK
Actually I have another question. Would I be able to leave my downloaded mods in there old folder on the separate drive?
HadToRegister
Only the Mod Staging Folder needs to be on the same drive as the game.I don't know what you're talking about the "Audio Bug"?
MRELEKTRIK
I was experiencing a bug where basically all player character audio was gone. Footsteps, weapon noise(swings, sheathing,) player vocal noises, magic, shouts; They were all not present in the game. I tried reinstalling but it didn't help. I read that it is caused by having Skyrim installed on a separate drive from the main os drive. So I installed skyrim onto my main drive and all my audio came back. Interesting, I'm playing SSE, and have it installed on D, and my OS on C: and haven't run into that problem
MRELEKTRIK
It even apparently happens on sse. I was reading not everyone is affected by it. But i was doing some research and found that it does afflict many people. I'm not really sure why it happens. Some people have said it's an issue with direct x, or a corrupted sound.bsa file. I tried getting steam to replace the bsa file, and reinstalled dx10, but alas, nothing. There doesn't seem to be a fix for those who encounter it and not much in the way of information on what causes it.
MRELEKTRIK
Do you have steam installed on your c drive? Just curious if it might be a problem in where the game is being initialized from.

Nope, steam and all my games are on D:I try to leave C: for just the OS, although Microsoft INSISTS on cramming stuff on my C: drive
