Error: Failed to initialize LOOT

Hi Everyone. Downloaded Vortex yesterday and am getting the 'Failed to initialize LOOT' error message. My game is on my F: drive, if that makes a difference.

 

In the details section it reads:

Should I be worried that I don't have a \webpack:\ directory? Or a \nodes_modules\ directory either?

 

 

I'm confused why your Fallout 4 VR directory is inside your PREY directory?

I have the same Problem now.I Start the update of Vortex and now i get always the Failed to initialize LOOT message.Before the update all was ok and work fine.My Game is on drive F Vortex on C but my Mods get even save on F so i don't know if there is problem for that i don't remember but i think Vortex was before the update even on my F drive and not C

OK, this HAS to be system specific, because it's not happening to everybody across the board.

I have 0.17.3 and I just shut down Vortex and started it again to see if I get the "Failed to initialize LOOT" error, and I'm not getting that message, instead Vortex is starting just fine.

 

So, let's try and find what the people who are getting this error have in common, and what's different for the people who DON'T have the problem.

 

I have my games installed on my D drive, I have Vortex installed on my D drive, and my Mod Staging Folder on its own OUTSIDE of the STEAM folder on my D drive, and my Download Folder on D drive as well.

 

The last Windows update was installed on 1/8/2019 KB4480966, (And windows is bugging me to restart my computer for the last few days so it can install another update)

 

My Microsoft .NET is up to date.

I use Microsoft's built in firewall, Kaspersky AV, Java is installed, and is currently updating as I type this, I'm the admin on my Computer, I don't run Vortex as an Admin, and I don't run Steam as an Admin

I make the same as you i start Vortex see the Message that is an update and if i want to install it.So i click yes restart Vortex and install the new Version.Until there Vortex work perfect.The update was Fast Vortex shut down and return in some Seconds.Direct with the Message that Loot don't work.My Game is and was always on drive F my Mod Folder is even on drive F and was always there.My download folder was on C even im sure he was even before on F.I change all that as my C drive have not so much Space.But ok so i try now to transfer even the Download Folder on drive F and it works with no Problems but loot don't Work.Without writing now all what i have.Between the Update of Vortex there was no change on my PC or Windows its exact the same as before the update and before the update all work perfect.Can i go back to the older version?As i see a Message when i update to not do that

While I'm waiting for a new update, I've noticed the current update installed a new Black Tree Gaming folder with Vortex on my C drive, despite having nothing there except Windows. To clarify: Vortex was previously installed on my F drive, as well as Steam and other games. It seems the update ignores the current location of Vortex and forces a new copy of it on the C drive. Unsure if it's related to my LOOT issue though.

Yes that i think is the Problem as im even sure that all my Vortex things was on drive F and not C but the installer don't let you chose where to install

 

ok i test it with the Installer where i can chose where to install even installing Vortex to F Drive don't change so the Problem must be somewhere else.

Yes it does, if you download the correct one.

This is probably what is going wrong on some systems.

No as i don't know what happen to all my Mods and i don't want to start again to download 200 Mods and fix them again so i try to direct Install same as update and all files from C was cancel and place correct on the F drive.I control even in the registry if there are double entries but all is ok.
