I need to move a plugin down to near the bottom of my load order

Could you please tell me the mod you are using?

Often authors will say their plugin needs to go near the bottom when the reality is that it is just the most hassle-free solution from their perspective. It becomes a problem though if everyone just does that though, as, naturally, not every plugin can go to the bottom of the list.

That's where Vortex's automatic plugin sorting comes in which will sort plugins sensibly in the vast majority of cases.

I can't get Vortex to put Open Cities or Live Another Life at the bottom where they need to be.

Please provide more details, using the guidelines found here: https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/7332636-how-to-post-request-support-for-vortex/.

Vortex automatic sorting will usually produce a working load order. In Skyrim SE I use "Live Another Life." Vortex automatically placed it in the High Priority Overrides Group, which is exactly where it needs to be.

Thanks. I just found that Groups thing. Would it be wise to use those? I'm new to Vortex.

"Yes," as HadToRegister has already told you. But first let Vortex sorting do the group assignments. Vortex with integrated LOOT usually gets it right. In the many months I've been using Vortex, I've corrected only 5 group assignments made by Vortex. It turned out that 3 of the corrections weren't necessary after all and that Vortex was right all along.

A number of folk new to Vortex think it's their job manually to sort all their plugins into these various groups in order to have a working load order. Some even create additional groups. None of that is really necessary. For example, in one of my Fallout 4 profiles, Vortex had assigned 135 plugins out of 137 to the Default group. As members of the Default group, that means it really doesn't matter in what order the plugins are loaded within that group. The remaining 2 plugins were then correctly assigned to an early loading group and a late loading group, with the Default group loading in between. There was one Default group plugin that needed to be in a late loading group. I manually reassigned it.

Letting Vortex do all (or practically all) of the plugin sorting causes some people with load order anxiety to break out in hives. However, my game runs beautifully with the load order crafted by Vortex.

To sum up: Let Vortex do your plugin sorting and group assignments. Be sparing in any changes you make personally. Don't micromanage.
