Dawnguard Vampire Attacks = Game Killer?

I just had a attack at the stables outside Riften and the carriage driver disappeared and a vampire was trying to kill his horse before I put her out of her misery with a dagger!..

 

there are five carriage drivers and I made a setessential text bat for them for my next game

I think the main criticism of this, is that many players simply don't want to have to be on 'Watch Duty' every single time they enter a hold or walk in the vicinity of a village. I don't want to have to double check every single village/house I go to just to make sure that everyone is alright and there's no vampires lurking around... :confused:

I just had another attack inside whiterun's front gates, I forgot one merchants ID Ulfberth War-Bear died in the vampire attack and I had to resurrect him, here's Ulfberth War-Bear id setessential 00013B9F 1

 

Owe the five whiterun guards at the front gate survived because I had set them essential from that list earlier on I posted here, those guards where on there way to help me fight the first dragon, that's why so many guards there in one place!..

Worst DLC ever, for any game.

 

Actually, the DLC is a lot of fun. I had 25 hours into it and that didn't include checking out the new dwarven area, getting all the books for ulrag (or whatever his name is), checking out the vampire or werewolf perks, or even trying the Vampire quest line (I did the dawnguard).

 

Just as the other poster said, I don't want to be on watch every time I enter a town and I don't want my towns to become ghost towns like Creepypasta.

 

The DLC has a lot of bugs in it, but they seem to be minor ones. I know I see a lot of people complaining about it, but this is Nexus. There's very few people on here who aren't loaded down with mods. Bethesda shouldn't be held accountable for that.

No, Stemin, I am another one who says that I do not see how stock game can be so imbalanced as to cause weak NPCs to murder most city dwellers. Yes, they might be lucky and kill an occasional NPC who can give you a minor quest, but then this is how this game is supposed to be. I fully agree with the others who said that it is impossible for the game to kill somebody unless you are in the same cell. It might be hard to avoid such attacks, but this is what game difficulty (change it to lower?) settings as well as various mods are for.

 

In the past, dragon attacks on various settlements could cause some troubles, but never to an extent where they would decimate entire city populations, and I am certain that dragons are noticeably more powerful than vampires in stock game.

 

Unless your game is gimped to hell due to a sequence of some bizarre events, I believe you should either take a different approach to handling vampires' appearances in various towns or install some mods which will rebalance your current situation. Nothing prevents you from disabling or completely uninstalling them later on.
