LordVader88
I love this game, but it looked old. I think I only finished it once. Can it be modded as easily as Skyrim ? How much better looking is it ? Can it be improved up to even vanilla Skyrim level graphics ? I didn't have many bug related problems, so what all else have people been making mods for ? I already have way more games than I need, and barely any time from any of them. But I'd like to throw it on my rig, just as a place to go visit once and a while....if it looks way way better. DoctorKaizeld
you can make it look a bit better and it can be a lot of fun, but no it will not match Skyrim. The graphics mods on the front page sorted by endorsements are great choices like this one: https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/54460
madmongo
At its core, FNV is a 32 bit game. The vanilla game can only access 2 GB of RAM. You can install the 4 GB patch and double that, but that's as far as it goes. If you install a lot of higher resolution textures, you can make the game a bit prettier, but you'll run the game out of memory fairly quickly and crash it. Even worse, the game's texture caching system seems to leak memory (Bethesda can't make a game that isn't riddled with bugs). Even with lower resolution graphics, the game slows down as you play it and will usually eventually crash. Using higher resolution graphics hastens this process. The long and short of it is that you can make it look a lot better than it did when it first came out, but you often end up trading pretty graphics for stability. I personally tend to go for lower quality graphics so that I can play the game for hours and usually not crash it. The vanilla Skyrim is also 32 bits, though it does't seem to suffer as much from leaky memory. SE is 64 bits. You can add as many high resolution textures to Skyrim SE as you want and, as long as your system has a decent amount of memory, you won't have a problem. They made some improvements to the graphical renderer in Skyrim as well, so even the 32 bit version of Skyrim will look a bit better on-screen no matter what you do. Just make sure you get the 4 GB patch if you start using high resolution textures. You'll need it.
JimboUK
Following this guide helps with memory https://taleoftwowastelands.com/viewtopic.php?t=6050 combined with the 4GB patch and ENBoost you can go nuts, of course the downside is the old engine can only handle so much and will eventually start to choke. Radioactivelad
Graphical modding for New Vegas is an endless stream of compromises, roadblocks, and bugs. And after all that you've got something that only sort of looks better to some people. If you need better graphics to play NV, I'd say you're better off waiting for F4NV.
