rmm200
I submitted a bug report on this. This post is just a warning to others. The new build, 0.17.10, seems to have broken Deployment. All of my my games get the banner "Deployment not possible", with either the error Filesystem doesn't support symbolic links"or "Hardlinks must be on same drive as game".In my case, I only use hardlinks, and the mod directory is always on the same drive as the game. This is a new feature with 0.17.10. HadToRegister
Good to know, Thanks
rmm200
Only one I am sure is broken is Sims 4. The AutoFix may have set Deployment to SymLink (never used it before), which caused the others to fail.
Tannin42
It's not broken in general, it works fine for me, including with Sims 4 and I have confirmation that it also works for others so there is probably a specific constellation that makes it fail for rmm2 now. I can almost guarantee that you did use Symlink deployment for Sims 4 before though because Sims 4 needs its mods deployed to the documents folder on C, not D, so hardlinks wouldn't work if the staging folder is on D. rmm200
I have redirected almost everything I can off C, so my documents is on I:\Users\Robert\Documents.Sims 4 is on D:\Origin Games\The Sims 4.Mods are on D:\Vortex Mods\thesims4.Downloads are I:\Vortex\Downloads\thesims4. I have to emphasize this worked successfully with every Vortex build up to 0.17.10.Deployment could have been used before for Sims 4. I never noticed. Other games all use hard links. But the game and Documents are on the same drive. Any easy way for me to roll back to 0.17.9 and confirm that it actually works there? I suppose a Windows Update could have gotten me.Either that, or Origin in one of there updates moved the game to D... Well I am moving the game to I: so it joins Docduments. Never actually realized Sims 4 had that requirement...Still not sure Vortex will let me specify Hardlinks for it (option not shown), and Symlinks seems broken. rmm200
Fixed on my end by moving Sims 4 to the Documents disk (I:).Still feel 0.17.10 changed - something - related to Symlinks - but I have no games left that use Symlinks, so I am happy. Thanks Tannin for looking at it!
