Looking for a mod that prevents settlers from changing gender and appearance

What I like most about this game is building settlements. I also equip my settlers (outfits, weapons).

What drives me crazy is that when I come back to a settlement, some if not all the settlers have been replaced: male by female, and vice versa; different outfit...

Not sure if the game does this (but why on earth would it do that?) or if it's a mod conflict.

Is there a mod that prevents settlers from changing gender/looks/equipment?

First, 3DNPC has some custom settlers. Then here's another mod that does the same thing. These custom settlers are different. 3DNPC's are fantastic actually, but the idea is to make custom actors for settlers. Further you can just search "Settler" on the Nexus to find more. The root of this problem that you have is probably cause by the game resetting areas of the game world. There are placed references that link to the settlement, but those are generic actors that are created out of lists probably. Rando! And yeah they designed it that way. It's not a persistent system I don't think. Perhaps the mods you find by searching "Settler" can remedy this. But I typically don't worry about it. Unless it's a custom settler that I put in a safe place, and usually those are already set up to be geared out & persistent.

Yeah this bugs me too and if you have that evil CC mod that adds the cameras and shooting range for npcs to use they get reset by the shooting range after using it. I usually give sheffield a winter jacket and jeans, a baseball cap and a 45 recon pipe rifle with some ammo after I convince him to move to sanctuary. I noticed after he used that mod added shooting range he went back to his crap clothes and his inventory was reset too. This bug also affects any robot assigned to be a supply line npc. Whatever you make the robot into, it reverts to a default protectron after you leave the area for a while and come back. I don't even run supply lines through dangerous areas because of this crap and also because I can't get the robot to carry all the stuff by itself instead of using a brahmin.

Heyas DW2304. Yeah, the problem here is that the game is respawning them. And basically just creating a new one from a random list.

I do NOT know if this will work or not, and I CAN'T test the theory, because I can only play this game on the PS4. (My laptop sucks, and doesn't come anywhere close to the requirements to run the game!) BUT... I am wondering, if you use a mod that allows you to assign a name to the settlers, if that will change the settings, and they won't be automatically respawned randomly.

Named NPCs are handled differently than un-named NPCs, so I don't know if that would create the effect that you are looking for or not. I really wish that I could test it out to see if it works, but for right now, all I can do is pass along the idea.

There's several mods that add names, or allow you to name, settlers. I did a search for name settler and came up with a few. Tho again, since I can't play this on PC, I don't really know which ones are more effective.

Adding a name to an actor does not make them "Named" which is shorthand for having a UNIQUE checkbox on their actor base form checked (because most unique actors have unique names).

UNIQUE actors are not respawned, actors created from non unique actor bases can be.

Vanilla game does not respawn settlers that way. This sounds like either a mod conflict or broken official file.

Third option is related to certain type of armor with scripts, which causes settler template to refresh on load. That would be a very rare thing, but not entirely heard of.
