Relativelybest
I actually don't like wearing a lot of armor unless it's essential for the survival of my character, because I care more about the design of my characters then wether or not their equipment is optimized. I also don't care wether the armor is heavy or light, but rather which option looks better. Before I got Dawnguard, my standard adventuring gear consisted of: -College Robes.-Gold and Ruby Circlet.-Dragonplate Gauntlets.-Dragonplate Boots.-Blades Shield. All of it heavily enchanted and with the armor parts improved to maximum of my smithing skill. With Dawnguard, I have now changed this into: -College Robes.-Aetherium Crown.-Dawnguard Heavy Gauntlets.-Dawnguard Boots. -Blades Shield. The main reason being, I think the Dawnguard items fit the look I'm after better. (I basically just haven't gotten around to aquiring Dawnguard Heavy Boots yet, but when I do I'll replace the ones I have for a higher armor rating.) If I absolutely have to wear full armor, my favored gear is: -Dragonscale Armor.-Dragon Priest Mask or Daedric Helmet.-Dragonplate Gauntlets.-Dragonplate Boots.-Blades Shield. Thankfully, that hasn't been necessary for a while now. Edited August 14, 2012 by Relativelybest
invertedpanda
I used to use either heavy or light depending on the character, but pretty much every character I've played recently has gone completely unarmored. I usually play on Expert difficulty. My latest characters have been poisonmancers (using Alchemy, reverse pickpocket, and staves for combat - no weapons otherwise), dagger-based assassins, and my current one is a re-make of my arcane archer build (conjuration with enough perks to get bound bow and boost my bound weapons, enchanting for my clothes, sneak, max illusion, archery). Its great for carrying loot, that's for sure, and saves you one perk tree. You could certainly invest in alteration for these builds, but I'm cautious enough I never have to worry about it. Ragosch
I normally start out with the warrior stone and heavy armor, until I have some decent combat and smithing skills, and change then to the thief stone and light armor. I use immersive armor mod, so there is a variety of good light armor, which allows me to have elven or glass armor protection with armor, which is optically suitable for a hunter. My modded game does not provide a lot of crafting items in shops, so hunting is something I do on a regular base.
jeonitsoc
i'm a Nord level 72, I go around with enchanted clothes that grants me more mana, mana regen and lightning/magic resistance; sometimes a shield. This way i can carry more stuff, resist to the spells i can't dodge and feel it more challanging, since that two/three hits can kill me.
luzburg
Heavy armour all the way. I especially love the dawnguard heavy set. In vanilla I would say the Steel armour is my favourite.
StayFrosty05
Light Armor myself...I like my Dovahkin fast and agile....he favors Forsworn and have found a mod that allows me to craft unenchanted TG armor, though he is not a Thief himself he now often wear the armor.....I keep an eye out for mods that heighten his agility further and so though he is a big man, he remains very light on his feet....is great for ambush and surprise attacks.....As for the weaponry....he uses mod weapons...the Black Mammoth Recurve Bow...(Better Bows by Howie) ...takes longer to take a shot but hits like a hammer and the Dibellan Swords (JaysusSwords)....they are much smaller half length one handed swords...he duel wields...and suit his style perfectly, makes him feel to me like something of a consummate swordsman and Bowman....And just recently discovered the awesomeness of the Crossbow.... :woot: ....am loving them. korrumpiert
Heavy armor (Dragon and now the new "heavy falmer armor; looks bad ass in my opinion) on my warrior and no armor on my wizard (Archmages Robes ftw...!)
Georgiegril
I use Light armor, cuz lightly armored means light on your feet...smart.

gsmanners
So a bandit can pierce his sword on your foot. Better your foot than your head. In reality, heavy boots cause about 40% of your stamina loss. Stamina loss slows your arms and your legs, which makes your whole body (not just your feet) more vulnerable. It's classic common sense.
