Emsky968
Hello, I hope you're all well. I'd like to start this off by saying I've used Vortex for months now and this is the very first time encountering this error. I have a lot of mods installed and by a lot I am mean a lot. However my mod list has been well and stable and it functions fine. I take extra care in making sure it's all well and good so it doesn't go "Kaboom!" in the middle of a game. With that out of the way, let's get down to it! Many hours ago I had moved some mods around, uninstalled some, and was trying to situate some texture mods in an order that worked out best. Because I had done this I wanted to Purge my mods and deploy them since I have had some problems in the past when doing a lot of this "mod moving around" stuff. It normally goes just fine and all comes out happy and dandy. Except for today.... I purged my mods, deployed when done, and ended up getting the dreaded, "Deployment Failed, 1 Files were not correctly deployed (see log for details) The most likely reason is that files were locked by external applications so please ensure no other application has a mod file open, then repeat deployment." Now, I've done a lot of stupid stuff when modding, including accidentally having an application open when sorting mods, but this time I remain innocent. I've been Googling like mad, re-tracing my steps, looking through all my mods, Load Order checks, peaking into mods folders, and blah blah. I've come up with...nothing. It says to "See log for details" so I tried to hunt down the log in-which this might be referring too and I found 2 possible logs. One is under the data apps folder thing and it's completely empty under "logs". Two was in the Vortex mod folder where it has a deployment log that had an extremely lengthy thing full of techy stuff that my brain will not even attempt to understand. It showed the mods being deployed or something but keep in mind I got a mountain of mods so it's way too long for me to go through that long of a log and try to make heads or tales of any of it. So, after trial and error I have come here. In hopes that one of you fine people might be able to offer some insight on this struggle. My brain is fried and google has little to nothing on this subject. What it does have are a couple people with the same issue that seemingly never had it solved. I looked for things like, "You might have accidentally installed a mod into the wrong driver." They are indeed all in the right place. Lordy help me! AugustaCalidia
Three recommendations. 1. Copy the Vortex deployment log to this thread so that knowledgeable people can look at it. To keep the log manageable, use a spoiler. If you don't know what a spoiler is, it looks like this: Google "spoiler" to find out how to set one up. 2. In this Vortex Support Forum, use the search function and search for "deployment failure". A number of threads will turn up. Search the threads for a solution to your problem. 3. If you don't find a solution, then come back here so that we can all work on this together.
Emsky968
I've not been able to find a solution and I've been at this all day. I can't find a proper log. As I mentioned above I found 2 and they weren't what I was looking for from the other logs I've seen. So if you could tell me any other possible place it'd be that'd be great. I'm kinda upset about this since I wanted to chill out today and play Skyrim. However, I can't since none of the mods will deploy.
AugustaCalidia
Are you using the updated Vortex v. 0.18.5? If so, then roll back to your previous version. There are a number of reports in this forum about problems with the Vortex update. The solution that seems to work best is to roll back. Simply install your previous version over the current version rather than uninstalling it. Previous versions are available on Nexusmods on the Vortex download page. Emsky968
So...I tried the roll back and my file paths got all kinds of messed up. I couldn't figure out how to set them back up and it wanted me to re-install everything from scratch. I couldn't get any of it to set up right. I gave up and re-installed the latest version. So far no deploy error but we'll see...
Emsky968
For the love of MARA! The Deploy problem is still there and I can't roll back cuz it jacks up my file path. Good freaking greif.
Emsky968
You know what... not that anyone cares but I give up. Vortex can just eff your mods up in one click and destroy any work you put into it. I vouched for this for too long and this last update is the last straw. I am going to MO2.
Zanderat
Why not just wait for the update, then? I guess patience is a lost virtue?
hanoi07
After months, this problem still persists http://prntscr.com/pm2e0qhttp://prntscr.com/pm2e5wThanks for updating the vortex for this issue and giving me a lot of bad times trying to use mods and fixing the problem. :)
