Looks like Skyrim SE updated to runtime 1.5.80

This constant updating by Bethesda has ruined modding for me. I guess that's what they want.

Why?

Because, not only must I keep a backup of the core executables and ini files, but also coordinate my play times with my Steam settings. Despite this, the inevitable slip up happens, such as when steam decides you must reset your preferences, and you then need to recover game modules from your backup. Also, until I update a play-through to the lastest build, I must also exclude from adding/updating all mods that depend on the myriad of pre-processors and post-processors (e.g. SKSE, Engine Fixes, DLL Loaders, FISSES, PapyrusUtil, and other scripting utilities). This isn't a big deal if I had 50 mods, but at 200+ it starts to be a major headache.

And, don't try to create a fresh build without first consulting a Ouija board or an oracle, or you might find Bethesda has updated the game half-way through your new build, and you must now figure out which mods you've just stabilized must be refreshed. (Happened to me twice)

Better mod version control could help combat Bethesda's lack of respect.

A few ideas that might help:

1) identifying on which game build a mod was last released

2) When the game updates, Nexus places all current mods into an archive select-able by game version

3) Can recover previous game versions through Vortex.

As it stands, I've sadly concluded that much of SSE modding has tipped into the AW-SH*T zone

Edit:

With all due respect to Arthmoor. Although he makes a good point, in my case, the dependent mods represent more like 6% of my build. And, despite great on-the-ball modders, that tiny ratio, causes a lion's share of frustration, waiting, and rework.

could i just unistall all mods that would be broken by said evil of bethesda, but theres also those mods that are known as "must have" like....

looks/racemenu, simply knock skse64 dll, papyrusutil se

so what i'm saying is... what mods are broken and are there ways to live without?

so far this is the only list i have found... warning, its from lovers

https://www.loverslab.com/topic/94228-sse-conversion-tracking-jun-15-3585-told-ya-so-sse-1580-skse-is-updated/?tab=comments#comment-2154459

I have a suggestion, but I do not know the effort involved in making it work... Could we get a separate tab on the mods page, or here in the forums for "SKSE dependent" mods? It would be a place to have the mods listed with their update status. I have a very long load order, and the info on the mods doesn't seem conducive to doing this for myself. I am sorry if this is in the wrong place, pls move to an appropriate thread.

this! this needs to be a thing, i mean mostly thanks to the new way bethesda is basically stealing are candy once a month out of our mouths, it would be REALLY nice to just go to a tab or a category, its a pain to go through all my mods every month just to update like 6 mods cause bethesda wants money and i want a working skyrim/fallout 4 :'(

Umm Guys , where is the 1.5.80 update ? i cant download it ?

It is here. If you still see an earlier version, you are probably looking at a cached page. Refresh the page.

A suggestion, regarding handling of SKSE dependent mods:

Where a mod is version sensitive, flag it with a highlight in RED.

Where a mod is SKSE dependent, but 'apparently' not version sensitive, flag it with a highlight in GREEN.

Sort mods using highlight - scroll to bottom of list. RED followed by GREEN listed mods appear at end of list.

Check update for mods in RED - download if present.

Check update for mods in GREEN - is mod still version insensitive?

i don't use any of those so called must have mods(they are not needed to play), mostly textures, and a couple esp's i made myself, i never have any problem when beth update not with se and or fo4

if you use those so called must have mods, then you can't blame beth for the game not working(blame yourself), the game works fine when you don't use them

Well, i use a lot of skse-dpendent mods and have never any problems. I just dont let Steam update my game during a playtrough, since i have no interest in the content Bethesda releases at there cash shop.

The non existing problem solved.

bro i do the download depot crap but nothing happens or shows up in my download tabs.... its fake.

Bud, SKSE has been updated now so you don't need to do this, just update Skyrim again and install the new version of SKSE at this link and click this for Skyrim Special Edition. Also if you look in the earlier replies in this topic a lot of people including myself have said it's been updated so you don't need to do the method I posted.
