It's a beta and it happen. I was just a little bit like Ho no not again.... :D ( Not so long ago, it happen because i was using the very old nexus mod manager, i had to reinstall everything.)I just re-installed the vortex app but at first it said it was unable to install, after a couple of tweaki got it back... I still don't know if the game will work. I tried to launch the game after the vortex bugand igot stuck on a load screen (Much more chance it got something to do with the mod only not with vortex). HadToRegister
Did you happen to have your Vortex install folder open at the time?I ask, because that happened to me last year.I had the Vortex folder open, and because I had it open, Vortex deleted the contents, but was unable to delete the folder, which in turn, meant that Vortex couldn't install the new version. The next time I updated, I made sure I left the folder closed and everything went well. neodarkhunt
ok now here all the information i have about that. What i've done in detail.1. I played before it was all good, Then i installed with vortex, the mod Beyond Skyrim: Bruma. I enable it. Everything seem fine, then...2. I updated. I'm sorry I have no version to give you about vortex because it was not known from me before it happen, probably the latest before the lastest update.3. In the middle of the process, the vortex interface disappeared. I got no error or anykind. I was only throwedon the desktop. I didn't find the icon to relaunch the vortex so i browse through the drive find the folder. It was empty. (Not even a single invisible file or hidden. - nothing). 4. I launched the game Skyrim Se from the launcher like always, game was working no problem. Until i reach the "Bruma" area (This must not have any link with vortex to that point but maybe it was badly installed, I don't know.)The load screen stay stuck for 20 min approx before i Ctrl-Alt-Del my way out of it.5. I reinstalled the Vortex software. Except for the fact my computer showed me a error about "cannot install because there is already a process running "Vortexuninstall.exe (something like that) CTRL-Alt del again, to see there was none running. I rebooted, retried and i finally got back the vortex software with no mod installed...6. I restarted the game again to see if it was working, It load... but now i got a save corrupted. By chance i was low level... I don't know if this could help you to check for a bug in your update, but it's the best description i can give you.I'll reinstall everything from the game to vortex and mod. If i got anymore trouble with vortex with the latest version i'llkeep you posted. Note: My computer is not filled with virus or anything, when it's about computer i'm very careful. I'm pretty sure it's not coming from my system. :) Have a nice day.

BigBizkit
Save game corruption is not related to Vortex. It instead usually occurs when you disable mods mid playthrough etc. That being said, it sounds like the update process failed - merely uninstalling Vortex rather than uninstalling the old, and installing the new version. That still should have left your mods intact though. Is there a chance you save game becoming corrupted at the same time as the update failing was coincidental? In other words, did you enable and disable mods a lot during your playthrough so far?
Tannin42
When Vortex informs you that there is an update available, the option you are presented with is "Restart & update".That's what happens: Vortex closes, then the installation tool - which is not our software - uninstalls the old Vortex install and installs the new.Afterwards Vortex is started again. Thusa) the statement "In the middle of the process, the vortex interface disappeared." doesn't compute. Vortex is supposed to close when you click the restart button, the update process doesn't and can't run while Vortex is still runningb) If it's indeed the case that Vortex was uninstalled but then the new version not installed afterwards that would be a bug in NSIS (the installer framework), unfortunately there is no log for the install process. You could check in the windows Event Viewer whether it logged something about the installer crashing. But at the end of the day you'll just have to try to reinstall Vortex. The installer doesn't touch any data, no settings, no mods, no profiles. None of that is affected when the update fails. All you have to do is reinstall the application and continue using Vortex from where you left off.
