Random CTDs, Can't Keep the Game Running

Greetings!

When Vortex came out, I was hesitant to use it. But I downloaded it, eventually, and it worked like a charm. With over 500 hours of gameplay without a single hitch, including CTD's, on a high-end machine, and a constant frame rate of 60fps, this was Skyrim SE the way I imagined it would be.

Then, I had a crash. After that, I couldn't even get the game to load. I uninstalled my 245 mods, unistalled and re-installed the game, and it was working fine, until I started loading mods. Then, I started getting CTD's, on a regular basis ... every 15-20 seconds. I've done the usual, including unistalling mods and re-installing them, to see which might be causing a problem. Nothing works. Follows my load order, and it's not very much:

Note that I use LOOT.

Has something changed in the Vortex, that started this? I feel like I'm in the bad ole days of NMM. I'm not a computer expert ... by any means. I'm just looking for a possible cause, even as simple as a combination of mods, that is causing this problem.

Thanks!

Don't use Loot. It is built into Vortex and does the sorting for you.

Never once do you mention starting a new game. Are these CTDs on old saves?

I've seen the sort function, but didn't ever think that it did LOOT's work. I appreciate that information. Does Vortex indicate dirty edits? If if doesn't, how often should I check it, using SSEdit?

These attempts were all on a new game.

The crash you had, was it your entire system, or just the game?

With a load order that small you should be having no problems

Oh one thing, I see Racemenu in your load order, but not XP32 Maximum Skeleton anywhere, FNIS requires it, and Racemenu likes it.

I thought that my load order was incredibly small to be having these problems.

After all these years with Skyrim, and then with Special Edition, and I forget to add XP32. Also, I will try that Flashing Savegames Fix, but I usually have five savegames, and one quicksave.

If you hold to only five saves at a time then you shouldn't need the flashing save game fix, as HadToRegister noted it's generally only needed for ten saves and above.

Vortex will indicate Dirty Edits, Vortex can also convert any Convertable "Light" Esps, to ESPfes, (Another type of ESL, but Sortable) so they won't take up any room in your load order

My SSE load order has 279 mods thanks to that feature

Vortex will show "Verified Clean" with a Water Drop Icon, and a "Requires Cleaning" with a spray bottle icon
