How do I lock plugins in place?

I want to "lock" certain plugins in place so that they never move in relation to other plugins. I tried to use the LOOT 'groups editor' to do it but I can't figure out how to use it...for example: I want to place my 'Pip-boy Flashlight' plugin after my 'Enhanced Lights and FX' plugin, but when I click on the "lighting" node in the groups editor flow chart the only plugin that comes up is the 'Enhanced Lights and FX' plugin...but not the 'Pip-boy FLASHLIGHT' plugin.

At any rate, is there a button I can click on in the Vortex Mod Manager that will prevent LOOT from screwing up my load order? If not, I guess I could stop taking my blood-pressure pills - which I need because of NMM, Vortex, and LOOT...and Bethesda - to save up enough money to hire a software consultant who can help me figure out how to prevent LOOT from messing up my load order.

Use Vortex integrated LOOT to deal with this problem and not standalone LOOT. The advantage of using Vortex to set rules and make group assignments is that Vortex will enforce those decisions on LOOT.

As for your immediate load order issue, in Vortex simply create a rule that "Pip-boy Flashlight" load after "Enhanced Lights and FX." You probably don't need a group assignment to get the desired result. And you certainly don't need to lock the mod index. Trying to do so is a drastic step often leading to unintended consequences.

Thanks for your quick response, Augusta!

I grouped the aforementioned mods together, and in the correct load order. Didn't see a save button, so I'm hoping that the configuration will be saved merely by grouping them together. Of course this means that I'll have to launch Fallout 4 through F4SE from the Vortex dashboard, yes? I want to move completely over to Vortex which means that I'll have to integrate CBBE/Bodyslide into the Vortex dashboard as well. Is that possible, and are there any tutorials in the Wiki for doing that?

Thanks again for all your help!

If you use the drop down menu for rules found on the plugins page taskbar, all you need to do it click "Add" once you've set the rule. (I hope you didn't use the Vortex version of "drag and drop," which will work but is not only cumbersome but also unnecessary.)

You don't need Vortex running in order to launch and play your game. Once you've configured your game setup with Vortex, you no longer need it until the next time you want to change and/or add something. (I'm not recommending that you do this. I'm just indicating that it's an option. I myself prefer to launch my games from the Vortex dashboard.)

Yes, you can integrate all of your tools and utilities (script extenders, BodySlide, FNIS. xEdit, etc.) into the Vortex dashboard. They can be installed outside of Vortex, but I would strongly recommend using the Vortex dashboard tool dashlets. It's immensely convenient to have your tools and utilities on the Vortex dashboard and right at your fingertips.

For more information about all of this, consult the Vortex Knowledge Base accessed from the left hand panel on the dashboard. There are also video tutorials available on the dashboard.
