PC Win10 Trouble Installing Mods need help

Hi ,

I'm not very computer savvy so excuse the obvious.

When trying to install all winrar /winzip mods recently for Oblivion (I know it's an old game ) I get this message which stumps me. Any ideas?

 

"Deployment Failed" 2 files not correctly deployed (see logs,

 

"Most likely reason is that files were locked by external applications so please ensure no other app has the mod file open, then repeat deployment".

 

I don't have the mod file open once it is installed in case I'm accidently blocking it somehow.

 

No idea where the log files are

 

Any help please.

First off, the majority of Oblivion Mods aren't going to work with modern Mod Managers, because when Oblivion Mods were being made, there weren't any official mod managers at the time, only a fledgling WryeBash and OBMM

So most Oblivion mods are zipped up to install properly using BAIN (WryeBash) or OMOD (OBMM) while others are just zipped up and meant to be manually installed

My advice would to be just use OBMM (Oblivion MOd Manager) or WryeBash.

I wrote an article about how it took me a week or two to convert Oblivion files over to Vortex, just to see if I could do it.
But it was a lot of work

Thanks for taking the time to answer. I will look at your article and probably manually install the mods into oblivion myself.
