Game Crashes at Galathil Character Makeover

I've been scouring the known world of interwebbery and was surprised that I couldn't find a single hit on a similar topic... Basically, I get an immediate CTD when I pay Galathil (altmer who offers to change PC appearance in Riften Ragged Flagon in Dawnguard xpac) the 1000 gold to change my appearance. Let me be more specific:

1) I have narrowed it down for SURE to the following mods: ApachiiHairFemale.esm (**NOTE: ONLY the 10 additional hairs available separately from the full v1.4 pack; the full ApachiiHair.esm works fine w/o CTD), OblivionHair.esp, CazyHair.esp, FhHair.esp, and Dibella's NPC Overhaul.esp. If any ONE or more of these mods are enabled, game will CTD. Without these (I have a total of 57 mods, each of which I have tested one by one), everything's fine.

2) The CTD happens consistently and every time I actually pay her to change my appearance; navigating through Riften or even talking to Galathil but refusing to change appearance will not CTD. I have logged about 30 hrs into this save without any issues anywhere else.

3) I suspected having used showracemenu earlier in this save file might have had something to do with it, so I started a NEW file, went to Riften, paid Galathil, but still got the CTD.

4) I've already tried reinstalling Skyrim/DG. Same issues persist.

I can't believe that I'm the only one with this problem, especially since Apachii's hair mod is so popular, and I can't imagine I'm the only one who uses the hair pack AND wanted to change my appearance  . Any help is appreciated, but I'm even more curious whether anyone's experienced anything like this! Thanks everyone for your input.

UPDATE: No fix yet, but I've discovered more problems; I can initiate the makeover if I have ONLY ApachiiSkyHair.esm (v1.4), but when I try to confirm/exit the changes, I get a CTD. I'm temporarily concluding that ANY hair packs installed will crash Galathil's makeover option (tested and confirmed with Hairs of Fallout 3, too). I tried disabling all custom hair esm/esp, and I was able to initiate/complete the makeover menu w/o any problems.

Just wanted to let you know I have the same problem as well. My game just crashes, not to desktop, but freezes. I also have all those hair mods as well. Thanks for all your work in the testing. I guess I'll just NOT use Galathil. Shame we have to put up with some of this stuff. I guess that's the price we pay for modding the hell out of this game. (I have about 100 mods)

Good luck.

having the same issue...was hoping to find a solution. I had a khajiit character in the past that was able to use her services just fine, but now my nord crashes the game without fail.

The only way I know as a work around is to open the console, coc unownedcell and then type in showracemenu. That place has horrrrrrrrible lighting however but it's so empty it doesn't strain the computer into a CTD. I'll have to find a better empty cell...I think there's a completely white cell mod that modders use for testing weapons and armor...that would be a good one...but I cant seem to find it on google right now.

I have this same issue. I'm using two hair mods. Hair Pack and Oblivion Hair Pack. I use the console to do this anyway but it would be nice if I could do it legit by using this character and paying money to get it done. There is no way I'm using vanilla hair though...f that s#*! Edited by MassimoPB

This might, or might not help you guys.. but try using this Mod (if you dont already have it), Then talking to her again?

http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/33526//?

Its the mod used to get around the "CTD with more than 50 hairs installed" glitch Skyrim had for ages. Though, looking at a bit of info, it may also help CTD's caused by lots of 'textures' shown during the race-menu change screen (which may be why Zhamar telling his followers to wait a distance away, and taking off his armor helped).
