NMM or Vortex?

I just did a clean reinstall and am wanting to reinstall my original mods. i still have NMM in my download folder. Can I still use it to install mods on the Nexus site?

I tried Vortex and couldn't seem to get immediately comfortable with it--the interface doesn't seem as intuitive as NMM.

Also while I'm at it...originally I had the following mods installed:

01 Update.esm
02 Unofficial Skyrim Patch.esp
03 ClimatesOfTamriel.esm
04 HighResTexturePack01.esp
05 HighResTexturePack02.esp
06 HighResTexturePack03.esp
07 Unofficial High Resolution Patch.esp
08 ClimatesOfTamriel-Sound.esp
09 Footprints.esp
0A Realistic Lighting Overhaul - Major City Interiors.esp
0B SkyUI.esp
0C WondersofWeather.esp
0D iHUD.esp
0E Helgen Reborn.esp
0F Realistic Lighting Overhaul - Dungeons.esp
10 Realistic Lighting Overhaul - Major City Exteriors.esp
SMIM-Merged-NoDragonborn.esp
11 Real Clouds.esp
12 Realistic Lighting Overhaul

I am wondering about reinstalling 01 (the update.esm) as well as 02 and 07. Should I? Can I...? (are they still available?)

Update came from bethesda. It should have installed with the game. The unofficial patch is always a good idea. :) As for 7, I don't know what it does...... and don't use the high res packs, so, no help there...

You should grab the latest version of NMM, if you actually want to use it.

The version you have I don't think works any more. There were security changes to the API......

Go here, click the 'clone or download' button, download the zip file, extract it, and run the setup. Good to go. :D

Thank you but part of the puzzle is missing--I downloaded and extracted to a folder/NMM and that in turn made a new folder: nexus-mod-manager-master. In that folder was a bunch of other folders, one of which was Setup but there is no setup.exe. either in the SetupfFolder or in the Nexus-Mod-Manager-Master folder. There is a "setup.iss but windows doesn't know how to open that.

Where do I get the Unofficial patch? When i search Skyrim mods the only thing close is the Unofficial Skyrim Legendary patch

Do you have the DLC for Skyrim (Dawnguard, Hearthfire, Dragonborn)? If you don't, I'm not sure if you can get just the Unoffical Skyrim Patch anymore. You might have to do some googling to find it. I know he switched to just the Legendary patch - which requires all of the DLC - because the majority of players already had them and he didn't want to curate multiple files anymore.

Do you still have the mods folder for your original NMM install? Uninstalling NMM doesn't necessarily remove it, unless you tell the installer to do so. If so, you can just install the file from there.

Thank you! That helped a lot. I didn't think I had the mods folder...looked all over for it/ But then I reinstalled 0.63.8 and all my original mods were there plus some that I had installed and disabled.

Now if only I could get Better Jumping working!!

You don't download Nexus Mod Manager by using the "clone or download" button. That just downloads the source files. What you want is the Releases tab.

You can't get the Unofficial Skyrim Patch from official sources anymore. You would either need to buy all three DLC, or buy the Legendary Edition (which is just Skyrim + 3 DLCs), or buy Skyrim Special Edition and start over with new mods (not that hard since you don't have many mods).

That being said, you must have a Mods folder for NMM because if you delete the original archive, NMM complains and uninstalls the mod for some reason. Look in Settings -> Skyrim -> Mod Directory for the location.
