Ryandra
so I need to allow more memory for skse. lots of mods and all. so I follow the instructions given to me. Data/SKSE. modify a file it said. well i wen there and found a file labeled folder_managed _by_vortex.So now what do I do? game crashes immediately. And I think is the problem. But if the file isn't there? Then what?
Tannin42
Why do you think this is the problem?folder_managed_by_vortex is simply a flag that means that Vortex installed that directory. Vortex uses that when purging so it removes empty directories but just the ones it created itself. Nothing Vortex does can make your game crash. Vortex just installs mods, it's not active inside your game process at all.If your game crashes, it's because of the mods you chose to install or the settings you chose to make, it might be because of a hardware defect or a virus or game files being manipulated but definitively not because of that folder_managed _by_vortex flag. Ryandra
no no no. I mean I need to modify an .INI. which is hard to do when it's been replaced when this file. I need to allocate more memory, as the game tells me when I open it and try to start, but the .INI it tells me to modify is gone.
Ryandra
i meant to say that I think the memory allocation is my issue. the fix it gives me is impossible without access to the .INI. Sorry for the poor wording.
HadToRegister
no no no. I mean I need to modify an .INI. which is hard to do when it's been replaced when this file. I need to allocate more memory, as the game tells me when I open it and try to start, but the .INI it tells me to modify is gone. Vortex does NOT replace the ini file with "managed_by_vortex"You have to CREATE the INI file as explained in the instructions The SKSE.ini file (Skyrim > Data > SKSE) is not included with the SKSE archive and you need to create the file yourself. Go to SKYRIM > DATA > SKSE and create a "SKSE.txt" file. Rename the file "SKSE.ini". What you need to add to the SKSE.INI file: [Memory]DefaultHeapInitialAllocMB=768ScrapHeapSizeMB=256 people love to blame Vortex for EVERYTHING. I can tell you though that your game is STILL going to crash immediately, because YOU don't have SKSE installed properly, or you're using an ENB, or you have a missing master, because an instant crash is caused by one or more of those things
Ryandra
ok ok jeez. I've always had issues modding, even with NMM and especially with MO. And I guess it doesn't crash immediately but it freezes on the pillar in the alternate start cell and then crashes. And I guess I was reading it wrong. I'm sorry.
