SixesWild
I finally decided to download Vortex today, and that went well enough I think. I imported my mods from Nexus Mod Manager, and got all the updates done through Vortex. Then I assumed I didn't need Nexus Mod Manager anymore and uninstalled it. Perhaps that was a mistake. Now, when I go to DL a new mod by hitting the "VORTEX" DL button, I got a message saying there was no tool to open the file type. So I reinstalled Nexus mod manager, and fiddled with the Vortex settings to get it back as the default download manager. Now that I have that reestablished, do I still need to keep NXM, and is is doubling up the mods on my PC, taking up extra space for each? Or if I uninstall again, and then fiddle that Vortex setting, will I still be able to download mods directly to Vortex or will I get the error message again about having no way to open up nxm files? Ive included a quick shapshot of the dropdown options I see in my Vortex screen, where there appear to be two versions of many mods existing, differentiated by the "()" at the end, even though I opted to replace/install mods rather than install copies. OK, I'm not sure where to start. NXM isn't a program, NXM is a link type, that Mod Managers can handle for downloading mods. You were right to uninstall NMM after Importing to Vortex. All you need to do is change the settings in Vortex to handle the NXM download links. There was no need to reinstall NMM Are you now using NMM?Or are you using it to download and install, and not using Vortex anymore? Because according to what I read, it sounds like you 1. Imported NMM mods to Vortex2. Uninstalled NMM3. Tried to download more mods with Vortex, but NMM was still the default NXM handler4. Reinstalled NMM to handle the NXM links instead of changing the setting in Vortex to download the NXM links5. Are now downloading Mods with NMM instead of Vortex6. Now you have Duplicate Mods showing up in Vortex because you're downloading them in two different mod manager? Just change the setting below, and vortex will download your mods.I'm kind of worried now that you've really messed up your install because you're saying you have two version of your mods showing
yk0520
Thanks for the tip on finding the Handle setting. Still used to NMM, but liking Vortex more.
