So PC users are the minority huh?

A post like that screams "troll" to me, Kruniac. I don't know if you meant it that, and I hope you didn't, but just putting down a whole lot people that way are pretty harsh words.

What about the people who spend hundreds of hours playing games online? Or who hunt down and find every last secret to a game? My own main character of Oblivion on my Xbox 360 has at least a hundred hours I've spent finishing all the major questlines and doing otherwise meaningless exploring.

Simply because you don't like consoles for their lack of mod support or a keyboard and mouse is not reason to insult them, and insinuate that anyone who plays them isn't a real gamer.

You're kidding me, right?

Its nice that you've put a lot of time into Oblivion, but quite frankly, you've been playing the "duh" version of it. That isnt an insult at you, but its just the fact that the console version of that particular game is limited simply because you cant mod it.

Oblivion has some of the greatest mods I've ever seen for a PC game. Totally different gaming experience depending on how large the mods are. We're talking about 300 or more percent replay value simply due to a dedicated group of folks who create custom content. A console version cant even begin to do that game justice.

I dont have anything against console users, as I have consoles. Its just that in terms of quality of RPG/Strategy/MMO/Etc, consoles simply cant compete. Even the FPS games for consoles are of fine quality FOR consoles, but when played on PC, you can really tell how lacking they are. Brothers In Arms is a perfect example of that - might be fun for a casual person on console, but the game is fairly crappy as a PC game.

At the end of the day, PC games will always provide MORE. More mods, more gameplay, more replay value, more everything. The only thing consoles have over PC gaming is the simple fact that some games are MADE for consoles (particularly RPGs such as the Final Fantasy series, among others).

As for Fallout 3, its mediocre right now on all platforms because of decisions to focus on profits rather than a quality game. The CS will fix that. I just hope that mod support can come to console users so that they can get the FULL experience of previous Bethesda games like we PC users have.

I find it hard to believe that PC sales are in the minority, but it has only been what? a couple months since release? Personally, I know my PC won't run the game, so I am kind of forced to get the 360 version. The same happened with Oblivion, but the thing is, and it was stated before, I bought the 360 FOR Oblivion. It was either, trade in a bunch of stuff, or save up $800-$1000 to run a PC that could handle it. Even now I barely manage 20 FPS from Oblivion, I don't even want to know what Fallout would do. Some people just don't have the option. In which case, I think it's good to have a watered-down version, you don't even know what you're missing. Slightly off-topic, I have also seen many more bugs reported from the PC version versus the 360/PS3, but may be due to the fact these people are already on the computer and can just click a link to report the problem. In any case, whatever you're preference consoles are obviously here to stay, but so are PC's.

I'm a little confused with how people say pc's are so expensive. Even someone who hardly even knows how to turn a computer on, should be able to put one together, if they have instructions.

And as for price, getting a cheap motherboard with a pci express slot (which is what you need to get the best stuff working) only costs about $180. There's the most expensive part out of the way.

The power supply unit might cost about $60.

A decent, but cheap sound card costs about $20. And I mean decent as in it can support most sound system set ups including 7.1 surround sound and subs added to it without sounding crap.

The case costs about $50

A DVD burner costs $55

1 GB ram cards costs $40

An ASUS Nvidia 9400GT with 1024 MB costs $130. There was a guy who said something about the graphics cards costing $400. Seriously, i've never ever seen or heard of any costing that much in my whole life. The most expensive i've ever seen was at $200. And that was years ago, and it didn't stay at that price for long either.

And there, put this together, and you got a very good gaming computer that only costs $535

And yeah sure, a computer that has already been built that is as good as this would cost about $2000. That's why you don't buy pre-built computers.

Oh and Xbox 360's costs $380 while PS3's costs $600 (not long ago, they costed $900)

Ject67, that's okay if you want a low-end PC that you will simply have to upgrade again and again each year. What most people refer to when talking about gaming PCs are top of the line stuff. A gaming rig that will still be useful and able to play the latest games on decent settings in a few years. That means you can't skimp out and get cheap stuff for things like the motherboard, CPU, RAM, and video card. Power supply has to be pretty good, too, to support the huge drain high-end video cards draw, plus the needed fans to ensure you don't overheat.

With Vista growing in popularity, and some games even requiring it, you're looking at at least 2 GB of RAM, as Vista itself takes one. You need a good CPU to handle it and a game, though the video card can take care of a lot of that.

Video cards alone can set you back several hundred dollars if you go for the latest stuff. A search for "video card" in Newegg.com shows the cheapest on the first page to be about $170, with the most expensive over $500. Similar results show up on TigerDirect.

All in all, the PC alone can easily set you back $800 - $1000 if you are going for quality rather than the cheapest out there. Add in costs for a monitor, mouse, keyboard, and sound system if you don't have those things already, and it can easily pass a thousand dollars and more. That is the kind of thing I was referring to in my earlier post.

mikekearn, man, you seem to always post exactly what I am thinking! Obviously consoles can't really be upgraded as a PC can. That was always my problem, if you are more of a casual gamer on PC, you need to upgrade almost every time buying a game. If you only buy games once, twice a year or less, dozens of new sound cards, video cards, etc. have been released in the mean time.

to vash:It's dumb for anyone to really try and defend the consoles side on a website anyway. It was said in another post, look at the poll for sales figures on some website, then check the Xbox Live figures, and you'll probably see a difference.

The obvious truth is- If you can play a game on the PC, awesome do it. You would be crazy to get it for a console anyway. But if you can't, what's the problem with having an alternative? Does anyone here NOT own some console? Atari? NES? Not counting emulators, without a console; no mario, no zelda. Remember that consoles started when people began to buy PCs for gaming alone.

PC games beat the console version hands down.

not just because the GFX is originally better, but because the GFX can be even better with mods, texture packs, ini tweaks etc.

And of course becuase of all the mods available for PC.

Some of my friends play consoles all the time, and they get jealous when they come over and see the PC version looking much better.
