marianoberna
As the title says. Vortex has a bunch of options that I don't need, constantly crashes, is bloatware, bogs down my computer, has permission issues all the time, tells there are missing masters which are actually present, takes ages to open, and on an on an on.Is there a simpler alternative that just downloads and installs mods, period? HadToRegister
I'd suggest getting a new computer.I've had Vortex open for several weeks now (I don't shut off my computer), It hasn't crashed once, nor does it "bog down" my computer.Sounds like you need to upgrade your system.Until then, use NMMIt's like a Coffee machine that's just a funnel and a garden hose, it doesn't do anything, it let's you set up the worst possible load order, but you're in total control :DClick Download Vortex, then scroll down the page until you see this: Then click Community Release
Guest deleted34304850
those things you state are not true. you're projecting your own shortcomings and blaming a tool.If you want the simplest solution, here it is download a mod manually, unpack it and copy the files into the correct directories. that is literally what 95% of modding is. You can't get simpler than that.
Tannin42
Most optional features can be disabled on the extensions tab.Bloatware: arguableConstantly crashes: have you reported these to the issue tracker?Bogs down your computer: certainly not. If you feel like that, why not close Vortex before starting the game? It doesn't have to be running.Has permission issues: Vortex isn't the cause of permission issues, it just reports them. If Vortex can't write to a file no application with the same access right can. And Vortex doesn't write to any files it doesn't have to (*duh* I guess?). If you're comparing a NMM running as admin with a Vortex running as a restricted user, that's an apples to oranges comparison.Missing Masters: This has been claimed a couple of times, it never held to any scrutiny. It always turned out the user was wrong and Vortex was right (stuff like: the master was installed but not enabled or users didn't know the difference between mods and plugins and then had a mod installed they thought was the master but not the plugin). If you're sure the missing masters message is wrong: demonstrate it so we can fix the problem. A simpler alternative: Try firefox+7zip? What would be a point of a mod manager that doesn't do more than those generic tools?
