Frame rate drops to 20 when starting Skyrim via Vortex

Recently whenever I start Skyrim SE (ver. 1.5.97.0) or Skyrim (ver. 1.9.32.0) via Vortex the frame rate starts at 60 and then drops to 20.

 

I've updated my NVIDIA video drivers (GeForce Game Ready Driver Version 441.41).

Updated Vortex to version to ( version 1.1.3).

Updated all my mods

 

But the problem still exists.

 

My system:

Processor - AMD FX-8350 Eight-core processor 4.00 GHz

RAM - 16 GB

Video - NVIDIA Geforce GTX 750 Ti

OS - Windows 10 Pro

 

I've also disabled all of my mods which didn't help.

 

If I start the programs (even with all mods enabled) via Steam the game runs flawlessly at fps 60

 

I'm at a complete loss.

How is your framerate when you shut down Vortex and run Skyrim SE and Skyrim without it?

When I shut down Vortex and run either Skyrim or Skyrim SE they both run fine with fps 60

Use Task Manager and see how much storage Vortex is using when running. This is sounding strictly like a storage in use issue.

Please try going to settings to disable GPU acceleration in Vortex, restart it, then see if this made a difference.

 

You could also edit the tool starter on the dashboard (startup screen on vortex), edit the tool you're starting (TESV.exe or skse.exe) and set "On Start" to "Hide".

When Vortex and Skyrim SE is running Vortex is using 117.6 MB and .2% CPU

 

I disabled GPU acceleration in Vortex I also set tools to "Hide"

 

The game still drops to 20 FPS once the Skyrim menu is loaded. The game still runs at 60 FPS if started outside of Vortex.

 

I also removed a few mods that I didn't care about, and ones that had notes indicating that they might cause problems (I'd been using them for months without a problem) neither of these steps helped.

It looked like I had finally found the problem. An old version of skse was being loaded along with the latest version. Once that was fixed I started to have a lot of other problems due to all the things I did trying to fix the fps issue. So I decided to do a completely new install of both Vortex and Skyrim SE. I uninstalled all instanced of Skyrim SE and Vortex from my computer and all of the mods I had installed.

 

The after resolving any conflict with my new mod installs and running loot to set load order the game runs perfectly when loaded via Stream but has the old FPS issue when run via Vortex.

 

I'm at a complete loss.
