Staros
If I move a Steam installed game, will Vortex see this easily? Will I need to re-install all of my mods? Re-download them due to the MOD folder needing to be relocated? Any known issues doing this?
HadToRegister
What you need to do is PURGE your mods using Vortex, for all your games you're moving, then move your Steam installation, and then have Vortex SCAN for the games so it can find the new paths.Once it has found the new paths, you should be able to DEPLOY and get all your mods back.Just be sure that when you move your Steam Install, that it's on the same drive as your Mod STaging Folder.I did this with an Installation of Fallout 3, (I own both the Steam Version and GOG version), and I was having a heck of a time getting the Steam version to start, so I purged the mods, installed the GOG version, told vortex where the GOG version was, and deployed the mods. Staros
When you say purge, do you mean disable or remove. Those are the 2 options given to me. (sighs) Still sounds like I'm in for hours of work again... ah well, such is the price of SSDs.

"Purge" is neither alternative that you list. Rather, purge is a separate operation that removes hardlinks from the game data folder. Deploy restores them. Purge is a non-destructive operation that leaves your Mod Staging Folder and Downloads Folder wholly intact. Purge affects only the hardlinks in the game data folder and nothing more. Rattledagger
Just be sure that when you move your Steam Install, that it's on the same drive as your Mod STaging Folder. And if the game and the "Mod Staging Folder" is now on a different drive and you must use hard-link deployment since the game don't support soft-links, under Vortex - Settings - Mods change the location of "Mod Staging Folder" and let Vortex move the files to a different disk. After moving make sure deployment-method (same screen as setting Mod Staging Folder) is listed as "Hardlink Deployment". Now you can Deploy to re-add all the hardlinks back to the games directories. Repeat the process for any other games you've moved and that must use hard-link deployment.
