Kaptinunderpants
Hi, Ive returned to modding after a break (using not creating) and in Vortex there is an option for managing plugins groups, I watched Gophers guide but it does not answer the question I have (Fallout 4 and Skyrim) . 1) Should the Managing Groups have 2 separate lines of Groups not linked by arrows? to my mind this means that any independent Groups even if linked to each other will have no idea when to load vs the Masterlist groups? yes? 2) Almost all my MODS are classified as default in Groups, so is LOOT not sorting them? These are almost all mainsteam mods from Nexus so should be tagged Groupwise? I'm just trying to figure why both Skyrim and Fallout 4 recent attempts are all crashing like buggery, this seems like one option in that nothing is being sorted? Any help appreciated -Lee
Guest deleted34304850
in my current fallout 4 setup in vortex every single plugin is in the default group. (That's 164 plugins in total).Within that group, i do have some load before/load after rules set up, so that a patch, for example, will always load after the plugin it's patching - but that's about it.the only time ive changed a plugin is when the install instruction mentions something like "load last" or "load near the bottom" and i've put that plugin in the dynamic patches group, but other than that, i've never needed to mess with groupings. * edit for typo's
HadToRegister
Try to avoid using Groups until you need it as a last resort for sorting a stubborn ESP.Groups in Vortex are VERY different from Groups in NMM.In NMM Groups are just NamesIn Vortex they are a means to SORTLet Vortex do the majority of Sorting for you, the real focus is sorting the MODS instead of the PLUGINS

Any help appreciated -Lee Follow the wise advice given by 1ae0bfb8 and HadToRegister. LOOT groups are exceptionally well designed LOOT sorting tools, and LOOT sorts plugins correctly most of the time. In those few times when it doesn't, then intervene. I say "few" based on my own experience. I've been using Vortex for two years (starting with Vortex alpha). I've managed and am managing hundreds of mods spread across Fallout 3, Fallout NV, Fallout 4, Enderal FS, Skyrim LE, and Skyrim SE. In all that time, I've had to make approximately five group adjustments for plugins that wouldn't play well with others. In all of my games, the vast majority of plugins are assigned to the "Default" group. The reason for this is because they don't conflict. When they do, simply create a "before" and "after" rule, as others have already suggested. If that doesn't work, then make a group adjustment, as others have already also suggested. Kaptinunderpants
So this may not be my issue, im guessing LOOT isnt working as it should as no sorting is taking place, why I asked about Groups. Might need to reinstall Vortex, already reinstalled the games from fresh.

You can also turn on AUTOSORT from the Plugins Tab
Guest deleted34304850
why would you need to reinstall vortex? that makes no sense.
Kaptinunderpants
Hi Folks, yes sort now and autosort have been played with addinfinitum, my problem is that from NexusMM to Vortex im missing something, I MOD the same way I always have, add a few try it for a bit on a test save before having a big playthrough, read all the instructions on the pages, dont go nuts. But for some reason now my Skyrim and Fallout 4 modding results in crashes less than 3 hours in each (testing), always had solid plays before when I build a MOD list this way. Its a new PC build im using but better in every way so its not hardware. Ive read up as much as I can on Vortex before messing with it but the How toos only go so far. I think this threads gone as far as it can with is is the sorting or rules, Im going back to basics reinstall all Vortex and these 2 games and putting in no more than SKSE and a couple of helper MODs and see if it still messes up in the 3 to 5 hour test period. Thanks for the Advice.
Guest deleted34304850
what mods are you using? if they're installed, then vortex has done its bit - then it's down to the stability of the mods you've installed?
