jbp7271
Can someone please tell me how to find what your post number is? This has always confused me on this site. For example, someone responded to one of my questions and their answer says "In response to post #76273773". So I click on "76273773" and it brings me to the post, but nowhere on it does it have this number? But at the far right of that post it says "#440" and a mouse over shows "post #440". The number "76273773" is far from the number "440". What am I missing here? Thanks,

StormWolf01
Heyas jbp. What you're seeing there is code from responses to the actual mod thread, not in the comments section. The code used in the mod comments/posts sections works differently than the forums posts do. Ok, here's what happens. When I post a mod, I go through the process of making the mod page, and then make the page available to the public. When I do that, the system... AKA Sitebot, automatically makes a forum thread, for the comments/posts tab for my mod. Whenever I click on a Reply button, in the posts comments, it adds my reply in a box connected the post that you're responding to. But, in the forum thread, it adds the post # that you're talking about, rather than the quote. As to where that number actually comes from. It's assigned by the forums system. This probly depends on your browser. Right now, I'm using Opera. If I hover my mouse over the #2 in HTR's response, I have a small area at the lower left of my screen that reads https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/8298423-post-s/#entry76338998 which is the true link that would go straight to post #2 in this thread. [Edit] There's a green button on the Posts tab of every mod page. It sits right above where the first comment box of the page starts. It reads Forum Thread . Clicking that will take you to the nexus forums version of the post comments. Edited January 8, 2020 by StormWolf01
jbp7271
Yes, I always use the Forum Thread button and do everything there instead of on the Mod page. Ok, so you're saying there really isn't any way to identify my own "post numbers".. I was hoping to be able to search a page for my post number to see responses. I find it difficult to find answers only to my posts.. Right now I'm using "My Content" link under my profile name so I can see threads I've posted to and which ones have new entries. But when I open one I have to sift through everyone else's comments/responses and there may or may not be one there for my post. :/ Is there an easier way? StormWolf01
hey again JBP. Well, first thing to do would be to check your preferences to make sure that you're being notified when somebody posts a response. Also make sure that you have a valid email address attached to that. you can also copy the url for the post number, by right clicking on the number. then press and hold the CTRL key, and tap the F key. That will open up the search function in your browser.paste the url into that, and delete out the rest, other than the number. Then hit ok, search, or whatever button that your particular browser uses. Press and hold the CTRL key. Not now (typo there!) tap the F key. now type in stormit will find every reference of the word storm on this age. and have arrows that will let you go to the next or previous reference to the searched word or character string. Edited January 12, 2020 by StormWolf01
