dark47
You get a bit better chance for a kilmove, yeah. You still need to watch how close you are to other npc's, but it isn't as bad as vanilla. The holotape is mainly for weird config choices, for instance - do you wanna enable killmoves for blunt weapons, or be able to use a ripper like a knife for a stealth kill. Weird crap like that
StormWolf01
ahhh I see. That's pretty cool. Tho I'm also looking at another mod that throws in different killmoves (IF I can find it again!) so I dunno if they'd conflict or not. But I've got the one we're talking about on the list, so yeah, it'll probly make it into at least one of my builds. [Edit] Off topic, but post 777 for me. LOL ALways love it when the numbers always roll out the same. Too bad I'm not on a slot machine! Edited January 14, 2020 by StormWolf01
dark47
I enjoy using the sneak mods I have now, but I'm always looking for something better. Not something as overpowered as stealth armor or anything like that, but just something that cuts down on the NPC's detection radius a bit. They still spot me way too easily. Weight of your weapon, and armor also make a difference....... (along with line-of-sight, lighting, etc.) But, there are times that you should still be 'findable', regardless of those factors. If I am standing there, and watch three guys heads mysteriously explode....... I am pretty sure there is someone out there causing that to happen, and I am not going to give up looking easily...... (and make comments about maybe doing less jet.......)
dark47
Yeah, the whole stealth thing in Fallout 4 sucks, but I contnue to try and use it, because... well, that's what I am. A stealthy sniper-thief. Can't get past that. I hate power armor and refuse to use it. (Playing as a tank in Elder Scrolls Online - you need serious backup), Melee characters are sorta fun, but usless for a serious playthrough. No matter how I start the game, I always end up as a stealthy sniper-thief. Usually not as stealthy as I'd like. He, he That's why I started carrying a combat shotgun. StormWolf01
Heh, yeah it's funny. I've tried to make the melee fighter builds, and the run up and start blazing builds, but I almost always end up falling back into the style of a long range gunner. I've got a mod called.... pretty simply... sneak. https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/8409in the distro form, yeah, it could be considered OP. It doesn't make you undetectable, but it definitely gets you up there. But it's pretty easy to nerf. Just look at the EPFB - Data / Float figures, and drop those as you see fit. Running at about 50% of the original is where I think I started at.I also like this one https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/28745 Sarcastic sneaking. It doesn't affect your chances of being detected, but... well... it kinda changes your frame of mind. Hahaha, just check it out. The last entry for it, kinda describes my mental imaging of some of the situations HeyYou has posted about :D
HeyYou
Yeah, trying to go pure melee in a world where folks carry around miniguns really isn't a great idea. :) And I really don't think there is a better 'close quarters' weapon than the combat shotgun. Even in semi-auto mode, it can deal out a huge amount of damage in pretty short order. (with the two-shot legendary, it is just farking unbeatable....) dark47
I made the mistake of modding a combat shutgun with Explosive rounds. Did a lot of damage, but every second time I pulled the trigger, I killed myself. He, he YES!!!! That Simply Better Sneaking mod is what I was looking for. That and the Sneaky Kills mod are fun when used together, I'm finding out. Sneaky Kills pretty much just does the kill move animations. Having fun with the two of them. StormWolf01
I mad the mistake of trying out a missile firing gattling gun. Yeah. Insta-suicide. The missiles collide with each other, it counts as an impact. Needless to say they blow up right in your face :dry:That sneaking mod is a lot of fun. It's definitely changed the way that I set up my armors too. I still throw some of the ummmm... gah... can't think of what it's called!! It's the attachment that makes it so that you're less likely to be detected from sound... but it frees up some of the other armor slots now :D

I kept wondering why I was dying all the time.... Until I realized that the 'explosive' effect has an AoE, so if the enemies get close enough to you, you take damage from it as well...... That was an embarrassing moment. :D
