What happened to Nexus?

Perhaps ads are not as lucrative as they once were so you need more and more of them. Perhaps advertisers are realising that maybe on-line ads don't work as well as they thought they might. flickr is making a loss despite the many, many free accounts and countless adverts it has (less than 1% of its users pay anything) which suggests to me that ads alone don't float the boat...

Given how little it costs to go ad-free for life at Nexus I'd be surprised if the income per user via adverts was that impressive... Of course, their idea of doing the sums and mine might not be the same...

The biggest of the problems is that the nexus monthly costs to run, far exceeds it's monthly income. Meaning that it costs tons upon tons more to run the site, than the comparatively small amount of income that it actually generates for the owner.

The download speeds. One of those monthly costs, is the company that the nexus uses for hosting all the files for the downloads, and whatever other internet related stuff that they handle. I cannot for the life of me remember the name of that company, and they've removed that banner that said what the name of it is. But yeah.... the download speeds is merely something that they can nag that other company about.

Shan- (I'm really sorry, I canNOT type out that name. It throws my dyslexia into a hissy fit) Have you tried manually downloading the files? If so and it's still not able to download, what browser are you using? Does it have java turned on? Is it just one specific area of the site, or everywhere?

Used to be an epic site, now there is more adds and prompts to buy stuff then a warez site. The non-premium downloads are far slower then 2mbit more like 0.2mbit.

The Traffic during the Holiday Season has put a real load on many companies choice of ISP companies.

A lot of Streaming of holiday movies Sporting events, and all are occuring. The ISP's pipeline of backbone was/is getting overloaded. Some companies equipment may be wearing out and be in need of replacement.

Starlink is growing in popularity and the Baby of 2020's New Year is leading all the companies attention to what 2020 is bringing in.

Be patient! Join in to see what is yet to happen.   :woot:

It's not even just non-premium. I've paid for premium but I'm running into issues left and right. Stuff just won't download. I don't understand what I paid for.

You didn't pay for anything. The site is entirely free to anybody. What your contribution got you was an ad free viewing experience and certain perks for supporting the site. Everyone is experiencing the same difficulties with downloads, both Freeloaders and Premium members. As in the past these difficulties will pass as the holiday traffic slows. Be patient.

If he paid for the same thing all of us Premium members did. It includes 10 somethings or others compared to 1. You can read about it in the Vortex information and the Vortex Wiki.

For the two weeks of Holiday prior to New Years slower speeds. And the fact of the matter is IT'S only been 9 days since New Years Day. A lot of the holiday transactions are still flooding the backbone on the ISP's ALL OVER THE WORLD.

Check out the number of returns being called in for over the Internet since The BIG Present giving day. I wonder how many Ugly Sweaters people have asked the companies for the money the giver spent on them for Xmas?

Like I wrote a moment ago; Be Patient.

I wondered how many businesses downloading and uploading of Data happen during the two peak times of their opening and closing? I wonder; How many downloads and uploads, with visitors viewing the Nexusmods Mod page (not the forums page just the mods page) it would take to actually slow down Nexusmods Downloads outgoing mods delivery and incoming Uploads receiving Data transfer speed as well as non-members viewing the Nexusmods page to get it to slow down so much it was running at mere Kilobytes Per Second?

I wonder if the person pointing out the changes in the way they are compared to 2012 (back when they became a member) has the modern equipment that would make their visit much more pleasant "In their opinion"?
