HW update on rig?

I'm battling dropping Fps when walking around in the wasteland. Between 40-50. I'm trying to run it in 2560Ã1440 (high) with everything from the "Fallout 4 Enhanced Edition - A Hardcore RPG Fallout 4 Modlist - Made with Horizon" installed on my rig:

I5-8400, GTX 1050TI 4GB, 16GB CRUCIAL 2400MHZ DDR4. SSD Hard drive.

Any suggestions on where to update my rig, with Fallout 4 in mind?

heyas biopip.

I've got a recommendation, but you're not gonna like it.

Get rid of the hi-rez dlc. Beth did an absolutely terrible job with those textures. They're a far cry from being optimized for gameplay. There's mods here on the site that are much better.

For free. [edit] scratch that. I was thinking the enhanced edition was the hi-rez dlc pack. doh! [/edit]

Also, you don't want to push this game past 80fps. Most of us recommend throttling it. Usually at 80 tops, but 60 is the safest bet.

Gotta remember, we're talking about a 10 year old game engine here.

kinda depends on your budget and how much you want to throw into a new video card

Think I would look at a meaner processor first. Should still be able to find 8th i7's for reasonable prices. Ram is good. Meaner video card (with more vram) might be in order as well.

I'm not that tech-savvy and up to date with whats good and whats bad on the market (been out of the PC-gameing waaay to long). So any reasonably HW updates you could pinpoint for me? The MB in the rig is a ASUS PRIME H310M-K.

What country are you in? :smile:

Wow. That system board will support 9th gen processors as well. (though, a bios update may be required.)

How much money do you want to spend?

I live in Denmark. Just enough to get the game running at a steady 60fps - and preferable in 3840x2160 (Ultra or High settings)

That's going to be processor, and a vid card...... Go with the i7 9700 of some flavor. (k means it is unlocked, if you want to overclock, F means no onboard video on the chip.) Clock speed is going to be what you are looking for. Faster the better, if you overclock, make sure it's a K model.

Vid card.... Meanest you can afford. RTX 2060 or better. No such thing as too much Vram. More is better, a lot is just enough. :D

Thanks Heyyou - I'll get on it, Maybe this one will do the trick: https://www.komplett.dk/product/1146749/hardware/pc-komponenter/grafikkort/asus-geforce-rtx-2060-super-rog-strix-evo-oc?gclid=Cj0KCQiA9orxBRD0ARIsAK9JDxSo9jmBnt58aEuKEsVhtC9FRubTxD9Gy_YzndGPgPqm6OPYmH1QzLkaAsVxEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds#

if you want to be able to achieve 4k @60 fps, then you will want the 2070 or better or maybe even gtx 1080ti

xx50 = Low end - (Tetris)

xx60 = Mid range - (1080p) @60 fps

xx70 = High end - 2k resolution @ 60 fps - 120 fps

xx80 = Enthusiast - 4K resolution @60 fps (varies)

xx80ti = Uses the same board as the Titan (this is the most powerful gaming cards for each Nvidia series, with a price to match, basically the bugatti of video cards) completely designed for 4k Resolution (this will be the definite 4k card and should handle most titles, 4k @60 fps <-- respective to the years these cards and games are released)

Titan = Full Card - deep learning/ cuda programming (not designed for gaming)

so with that said, i would recommend at least an i7 7700k or better, with a gtx 2070 or better. however this will no doubt be costly.

if you really want 4k @ 60 fps consistently, then the 2080 is what you want or amd equivalent. however these are very expensive cards, plus you will no doubt want a much more powerful CPU to pair with them. which matters greatly. everything inside your computer must all be on the same level for optimal performance. as the last thing you want is bottlenecks (where a powerful piece of hardware will perform worse if paired with a weaker piece of hardware, typically the scenerio would be a powerful GPU being paired with a weak CPU, this will cause sub-optimal performance across the board, especially in gaming).
