AppData Roaming Question

Bare with me as my English prob isnt that Good to explain my Question in a manner everybody understand.

 

So heres my Question/Problem

 

 

I have my general Game Directory setup on a separate Drive, my Boot SSD is only 120 Gb (please dont judge me on that :D), my Vortex Roaming Folder is about 30Gb which is too much for my liking.

 

What does Vortex store in Appdata/Roaming? Is it only what i downloaded (so it is saved for a reinstall of Mods without downloading the Mods again?) and i could remove it because the Mods are intstalled in another Place? Or would removing those Files Delete Mods/Destroy the functionallity of Mods?

 

Also if i cant delete them is it possibly to move the whole vortex Folder to another Dive and it will still function or is my only option to resolve this a Complete reinstall on said other Drive?

In Vortex the default for both downloads and mods is AppData\Roaming\Vortex. However, you don't have to accept the Vortex defaults. You can install the downloads folder and the mod staging folder anywhere you like, providing the mod staging folder is on the same drive as the game.

 

Deleting the downloads folder will not delete any installed mods. However, if you ever want to reinstall a mod, you will have to download it anew or retrieve it from a backup.

You can also set your Vortex Download folder to your Gaming drive to save yourself some space on your SSD drive.

So if i understand this correctly, i only need to change the Download Folder and could move all the Downloaded Data from Roaming onto my other Drive? Anything else to keep in Mind if i do so? Could pathing problems occur for Vortex trough moving the Data?

Make a new EMPTY download folder on your Gaming Drive.

 

Then move the game folders from the download folders into your new download folder.

 

It should look something like this

 

OLD Drive

 

appdata\roaming\vortex\downloads\fallout4

appdata\roaming\vortex\downloads\skyrimse

 

 

NEW Drive, you make D:\Vortex Downloads\

 

Then it should end up like this

 

 

D:\Vortex Downloads\fallout4

D:\Vortex Downloads\skyrimse
