Installing engine fixes for 1.5.80

Hi,

way back last June (I think) I installed (Part 1) Engine Fixes 4.6.1 for SSE 1.5.80. I don't think it's working, as vortex shows a missing dependency under extender errors (the only extender error in my mods list).

I have a feeling I didn't "finish" the installation, partly because I was a total skyrim newb when I installed it, and my understanding is that it requires installing the first part as a mod,and then inserting a few files manually (the second part?) .

Unfortunately, when I visit the mod page for SE engine fixes, 4.61 doesn't even show up, so I'm not sure what the second half would be, let alone the fact that the first part I have installed (4.6.1) doesn't even show up in the listings for files on the mod page.

can someone give me a simple step by step of installing, (like I'm 5) and the correct version info for Skyrim 1.5.80, so I can pick the right files?

Game seems to be running ok, but the extender error annoys me, and who knows, that flaw could be causing problems here and there that I'd like to resolve if the proper installation of Engine Fixes make any difference in play.

I apologize if I sound dim. Sometimes I just am dim about certain things. this is one.

Would appreciate help if someone can offer it.

Update your game and use Engine fixes 4.13

then download Part 2, right underneath Part 1

Also, I have absolutely no clue as to why it went from Version 4.10, to 4.61, then 4.13

Thanks for the reply.

To be clear, I don't really want to update the game right now. between the main update, SKSE, and all the SKSE dependent mods I have installed, I'd prefer to play a bit more before I invest the time to go through the game/skse/etc update process.

So (if I'm reading your post correctly) there is no intermediary? It's play as is or update the whole shebang?

thanks

Yea, I JUST upgraded to 1.5.97, because of some SKSE64 dependent mods that took a very long time to get upgraded.

Part 2 AFAIK is version independent, it's the tbbmalloc.dll, tbb.dll, and d3dx9_42.dll

Ah well..I guess it's time for me to check my mod list and make sure everything's been updated so I can do the upgrade then. OR soon anyway.

thanks for the info.

Are you using one of those tricks? https://appuals.com/how-to-disable-steam-auto-updates/

I've been thinking already for some time about configuring the auto-update disabling but never found time to understand which way is better for that.

(Sorry for possible OT)

Hi Jim,

Thanks for the reply.

Ok, so I should use the 4.10 version for skyrim 1.5.80 then, right? (and its corresponding part 2 bits)

(sorry... like I said earlier, idk why but although I'm usually pretty confident on how to proceed, I feel like a total moron on this one)

Yes, says for 1.5.80 right next to it.

As I understand it, part two is only needed when certain dll files don't seem to work properly. I installed part two anyway and all seems fine until now.

Thanks Jim. Just needed a confirmation/affirmation from someone. Much appreciated.

(in my defense, I've been on a combo of muscle relaxants and pain meds for the past several weeks due to an old injury that flaired up during the Thanskgiving/Christmas holidays, so I'm literally a bit fuzzy. even when I might not sound it)
