EyesOnAurora
I just signed up for a premium account, but it hasn't sped my download speed up. I'm still only getting 64kb/s. Is this normal? And is there something I can do to help it download faster?
RitualBlack
The nexus sites impose a 500kb/s limit on free users if I recall correctly. Being premium allows you to download at your maximum speed. If you are only getting 64kb/s it may be a problem with your internet service provider or you may only be on a plan which allows you to download at 64kb/s. EyesOnAurora
Is there a way to determine the cause of the problem if it is with my ISP?
Lawlacaust
i am a free user and i get 300-450kb a sec depends on the server that gets picked but i only have a 10meg speed so its really no love lose for me but 64kb? that seems to be a bad download server connection there or just a simple modem restart might work Edited November 22, 2012 by Lawlacaust
JimboUK
Is there a way to determine the cause of the problem if it is with my ISP? Try this first, if it is your ISP you'll have to get on to them. http://www.speedtest.net/
EyesOnAurora
Well I fiddled with the settings a little and managed to bring my average speed up to 100kb/s from 40, but that still isn't good for a service that I spent money on. Lanceor
Try downloading manually and try different servers. Depending on your location, the premium servers aren't necessarily always the fastest. Anyway, I seem to get the fastest results when using Nexus Mod Manager. bben46
Before calling anyone, reset your modem & if you have one your router. The easiest way is to unplug them from the power source (wall plug), wait 20 seconds and plug them back in. The 20 second wait is to allow all of the voltage to drain off of the electronics inside. If it does not drain down below a certain threshold, the modem will not reset properly. Remember that an ISP sends the data to your modem. After that the data can be slowed down by things on your end, such as a bad wire or coax connection, bad cat5 cable or coax cable (look for kinks & broken connectors) sluggish modem or router and then either a slow wifi or bad internet connector on your PC. Disconnect (unscrew) each coax connection, (note, In the US these are called 'F' type connectors. Not sure about other countries though) look for corrosion, make sure the small wire in the center of the coax connector is not broken off short. It should extend a little beyond the outside of the connector. Then, after cleaning if needed, be sure to fully screw it back together. a dab of vaselene on the outer screw threads will help to prevent corrosion, keep moisture out and to make it easier to unscrew next time. For cat5 cable and connections, unplug and plug them back in several times, gently pull on the wire at the plugs to be sure they are not damaged internally. If you have another cat5 cable - try that one. One source of slow speeds that is easy to check is a poor wifi connection. If you are using wifi, your speed will always be at least a little slower than if you use a cable directly off of the modem to the PC. - try bypassing the router and going directly from the modem into your PC with a cable to see if that speeds things up. Dark0ne
Sorry to hear you're having problems. What site are you downloading from? What file?Have you tried downloading from one of the other file servers, both Premium and normal (if you're in the EU, try downloading from one of the other two London servers)? Are you downloading manually through your browser or through NMM?If through a browser, are you using a download manager/accelerator like DownThemAll?Is this happening all the time, or just very recently? Is it still doing it after 24 hours?Have you tried logging out and logging back in again? The answers to those questions will help me in troubleshooting your issue. vichart
Resolved --- Sort of....Make sure that you go to NMN Settings/Download Options and select your nearest Server Location and Connections per file set to 4. This may help some and if not then try some of the other Server Locations and see. It helped me by about 10-20% but wish it were a fix-all. Guess I will see in time.
