eldergamer
Downloaded and installed 37 mods so far for XCOM2 GOG Version. I've tried them all together and one at a time and none of them have any effect the game at all. I feel like I've missed something big. I've watched the tutorials for Vortex and it appears I'm doing everything right but nothing happens. I'm sure they're not working. A number of the mods say that once you install them and have saved a game you can't uninstall them without the game warning you that content is missing. I've played a few missions and uninstalled all of them. I load a saved game got no warning that anything was missing at all. It's as if the modes were never installed. I'm open to (Relevant) suggestion anyone. Thanks
tekmage
HOW TO INSTALL MODS Create Mods folder in XCom2/XComGame and place desired mods into folder. War of the Chosen mods would be put under Xcom2/Xcom2-WarOfTheChosen/XcomGame/ Create a shortcut for ModLauncherWPF.exe from the Xcom2\Binaries\Win64\launcher Copy XCom2.exe in XCOM 2/Binaries/Win64 and rename copied file to XComGame.exe Launch the game with ModLauncherWPF.exe shortcut, select the mods you want to play with and hit “PLAY” The mods on Steam are updated to latest and mirrored on http://catalogue.smods.ru/game/xcom-2/ for those on not playing the Steam version. Nothing wrong with the Nexus mod versions, but not really updated and can cause problems with the Community Highlander which is pretty essential for a majority of the great mods. Thanks for your response tekmage. ModLauncherwpf.exe isn't in my GOG version of XCOM 2. I searched the folder and there is no such file. I wonder if I could download it somewhere else and import it to my XCOM 2? Thanks Edited March 23, 2020 by eldergamer
eldergamer
It turns out the GOG version doesn't have ModLauncherWPF.exe file. You must install your mods manually. I found a post from a user named Rengaru over on the GOG forums explaining how it's done. I followed it and it worked fine. Here are the instructions I followed. One more note: Be sure when your entering your enabling your mods in the DefaultModOptions.ini just use the mod name. Don't add the (.XComMod) if the mod is called superpower.XComMod justenter:[Engine.XComModOptions]ActiveMods="superpower"I was a little unclear on that at first. Hope this helps someone else.Below is the instructions I found. If you have a GOG account here's the thread I found it on: https://www.gog.com/forum/xcom_2/actually_where_do_mods_go_in_this_versionRengaru:Since this version doesn't come with a launcher, you have to do everything manually. If you are playing the base game (no WotC), first go to the game folder and create a mod folder.XComGame\ModsThen drop the mods into that folder, make sure the .XComMod file is present in that folderXComGame\Mods\YourMod\example.XComModFinally you have to manually enable each mod by going toXComGame\Config\DefaultModOptions.iniand type an entry for every mod you wish to enable[Engine.XComModOptions]ActiveMods="example1"ActiveMods="example2"ActiveMods="example3"If you are playing WotC the instructions are mostly the same, but everything has to be done in the WotC game folder i.e.XCom2-WarOfTheChosen\XComGame\ModsXCom2-WarOfTheChosen\XComGame\Config\DefaultModOptions.ini
Dragon32
It could be a while (as it'll be a lot of work) but there's an Issue about adapting the Alternate Mod Launcher to work with non-Steam versions:https://github.com/X2CommunityCore/xcom2-launcher/issues/181 Maybe worth keeping half an eye on that. tekmage
I am a bit confused on why they would leave out the default mod launcher and force users to change .ini files for mods.
eldergamer
I am a bit confused on why they would leave out the default mod launcher and force users to change .ini files for mods. I'm right there with you. It seems like it would be more trouble to remove it then leave it in. My guess is that it doesn't jive with GOG somehow. Could be compatibility but I think it's more likely liability. Eldergamer
hardeep0607
There is a possibility steam is facing any server side issue so, try re-launching XCOM 2 from the steam, but if still the XCOM 2 mods are not working then delete XCOM 2 Document Files, but avoid deleting the document files completely, instead of this just cut and paste them into some other folder.Documents\Games\XCOM 2\XCOMGAME\config folderHope after deleting the games files you are all set to play games without seeing the error the XCOM 2 mods not working problem. I got a "could not find Defaultengine.ini forcing shutdown" so I would not advise doing this. I am happy that I saved those files to another folder and just replaced them back. Tried using other launchers to where you can pick your mods and launch but the game goes into "Not responding" and never comes out and launce the game.. Only way I can play WOTC is threw the steam 2k launcher but without the manually installed mods  Just a note if I edit my XComGame\Config\DefaultModOptions.ini as described above the mods will work but than I do not get any of my steam mods working (and I have many of them) I know not how to add those to the ini file nor would I try putting so many in. I have tried everything I think I am just out of luck. Edited April 21, 2022 by Gbbanator
