ShadCroly
This is something that I've been thinking about on and off for a long time now, and only recently when I've learned how to poke around inside the Creation Kit have I started thinking about it more. I really hate getting disarmed via the Disarm shout by drauger, especially when the weapon I'm trying to use is already dark and the environment is dark and I have no damn idea where the thing flew off when I got yelled at. It's a frustration that's had me prefer Bound Weapons as my first pick for weapon choice, as they somehow aren't affected by the Disarm shout. With a slightly better understanding of how mods work, I decided to go poking around the Creation Kit to see just what made Bound Weapons tick, see if I couldn't find the magic effect or setting that made it so Bound Weapons couldn't be disarmed; my goal was to find the effect and make it into a mod to share, but I've run into a snag. The magic effects of Bound Weapons are just the normal Banish Daedra, Soul Trap, and Turn Undead enchantments that you can normally apply to weapons (plus one called Bound [weapon type] FX that I can't figure out what it does). Since I didn't see anything there, I took a look at the weapons themselves (under Items -> Weapons) and noticed that there's a flag called Bound Weapon (along with other flags like Can't Drop or Playable or Player Only). Is the Bound Weapon flag the thing that prevents the Disarm shout from working on you and if it is, is there a way to activate that flag with a magic effect, specifically a weapon enchantment? senterpat
According to the weapon page on creationkit.com, the bound weapons tag is used to allow a weapon to be used as a bound weapon in a magic effect. I don't believe that preventing disarm can be done on the weapon. What you could do is make a enchantment to add to it that prevents the player from being disarmed. What exactly are you trying to do? Edit bound weapons or make new ones? Edited December 23, 2012 by senterpat
Gerandirr
It's especially infuriating if your weapon doesen't have a world model, or it's an insignificant model. For example the unarmed weapons from ''way of the monk'' essentially those wouldn't need any kind of model, because you're ''unarmed'' while you use them, but because everything needs something as an anchor, the author used a ring as a model.Imagine the situation when you're disarmed by a draugr in a dark dank cript and you have to find a small, dull ring.I second the idea.Though, why not just disable the effects of the Disarm shout on the player ?It's much less work. (possibly only needs a few clicks in the CK, though I wouldn't know. I'm just guessing) Edited December 23, 2012 by Gerandirr

Going to the magic effect you can add a condition to the target tab to check if it's the player.

I'll poke around inside the Disarm shout a bit to see if it can be done.
darkbard82
It would make more sense (or rather be more immersive) to incorporate this kind of effect at the blacksmithing forge, kinda like adding a leather band to the butt of a shotgun like Kyle Reese in Terminatior. When I played Star Wars table top RPG, I remember having an option to add a tether connected to your belt when constructing a lightsaber. Just an idea. lofgren
You could replace the disarm shout with an effect that removes the equipped weapon and places it in the caster's inventory when targeting the player. That way you could reclaim it when the fight is over.
