(Worst) Game of the Year

I wouldn't say f1 2012 is the worst racer out there, especially when you have mods to fix stuff like that.

You shouldn't have to use mods to fix it, this is their third game you'd think by now they'd have taken notice of how modders fixed the last two games. As a racer it might be OK but as an F1 game it was awful, it's as if the devs had no understanding of the sport.

I already said The War Z, but I'm going to add Mass Effect 3 to that list.

 

Now, ME3 was not the worst game of the year per se. However, it was the most disappointing game of the year for me. No matter how brilliant the game is, it's horribly obvious that the devs had a massive brainshart when deciding how to end the story. Now we're stuck knowing that the POS ending is technically canon, and there's just no avoiding that without a fatal overdose of fanfics. That drags the whole series down, not just ME3. It's a rare thing for a sequel to have the power to partially ruin the previous games. I know they released ending dlc, but it was too little, too late. It makes ME3 tolerable, unlike ME1 and 2, which are amazing. They still kept a couple key problems with the original endings, and the ending dlc should have been patched in day-one anyway.

Diablo III for me...huge kick in the teeth for anyone that liked D II. I won't go any further, that game is fricking terrible. At least Path of Exile is in the works. Bf has been playing the closed beta for a week or so...it's so much like Diablo II yet it isn't. Very cool game.

Halo 4 and Guild Wars 2, I hate them so very much. Every time I've got a bunch of spare time to play, the laws of time physics require me to play ONE not both, but which?! I want to play them both, but I can't. :wallbash:

 

Tera: A very average MMORPG, Tera is highly divisive due to it's hyper-oversexualised portayal of female characters, namely those portraid as children. Some would accept it, others would not, for my part, I think it's unnacceptable and that the developers should be punished. Some would say it's a cultural thing, I'm hot-blooded enough to say that a little girl in a skirt so short it doesn't cover her underwear, waving her ass in front of the camera with a deliberately upskirt shot, is so outsandingly disgusting it should be criminal.

 

 

Pretty much what I was wanting to say of it. I shouldn't have to have my mage character looking like she's working the pole at Shotgun Willie's every time she wants to cast a spell! ("Buuuuuuuut shaaaaaaake Blaaaaaaast poooooooowwweeeer!")

 

The Elin wouldn't be so bad if they didn't look and sound like 5 year olds, though I'll admit that the idea of tanking with one makes me giggle :D

Thank god I was spared from having to play the big name titles released this year because, plainly put, there were no good big budget games that were released this year.

 

But if I had to name one game that I played in 2012 that would be classified as being the worst I played I'd have to say Metro 2033. I beat it in a couple of hours, the story was uninteresting, characters became interchangeable and empty, and the combat got boring extremely quick. I can't complain too much because I got it for free when THQ was giving away free keys by liking a page on facebook, but still I was unimpressed with this one. I was expecting more of a horror game and instead got a shallow shooter. Replay value is pretty high however, and I would play this again on a higher difficulty and use different weapon setups. Overall not a bad game, but definitely the worst I played this year.

Oh, yeah. Diablo 3 is just awful. There's so much wrong with the game I'm not even sure where to begin.

From a publicity standpoint, WarZ was by far the worst of the year. From a personal standpoint, anything Call of Duty is the worst every year since its the 90% the same game repackaged every year.

They have no incentive to innovate in their games because they know full well that the masses who don't know any better will buy anything they churn out.

I'd nominate The War Z as the biggest instance of flipping the bird in gaming history, but for worst of 2012, i'd say that Operation Raccoon city takes the cake. It's just so...urgh it makes me angry just thinking about it!
