HippeusOmega
When I manually sort my load order I like to group them together. Appearance mods go with appearance, and etc unless they need a special rule in my load order. Basically to keep my load order organized and clean as possible and I know some would say use MO2 as it let's me do so much more. Thing is I want to use Vortex this time around for my 2020 modlist to learn more about it. Question is with creating custom groups would it be better for them to come after underrides or default group rules?
HadToRegister
You can run into trouble if a mod is supposed to go lower in a load order than the group you're putting it in,That's how you can get cyclic rules.EX:Plugin A should load AFTER Plugin B, but you have plugin A, in a Group that loads BEFORE the Group that Plugin B is in, and you have Plugin B in a group that loads AFTER the Group that Plugin A is in.Now you have a "Cyclical Reference" that will never resolve
HippeusOmega
So should I just leave the group settings alone and let LOOT do itâs thing with only adjust my load order if a mod calls for a certain order?

EXACTLY Vortex tries to do all the work so you don't have to. The only time Vortex says anything, is when something is wrong.

The only time Vortex says anything, is when something is wrong.Ok thanks! Iâll leave Vortex loot grouping alone then. Only thing Iâve needed to do so far is setup a custom rule for Wet.esp and NAC and Wet patch as the mod author says to load those after the NAC plugins. You usually only need to do something (like make rules etc) ONLY when Vortex complains about it. This is what the Nexus, and the Vortex author is striving for. So I made the rule for it following the mod authorâs advice.

So I made the rule for it following the mod authorâs advice. A LOT of mod authors recommend their mods go at the bottom of the load order. It doesn't mean they're right. One mod author I agree with is the mod author of "Scrap Everything" because I know that the cell changes that it makes NEEDS to overwrite the cell changes from the default game, and every mod that loads before it in order to work.
