Lately I've been obsessed with placing tiny static items in small places. I'm using a heckload of mods for my micromanagement. The obsession started with Vault 88, where I had no issues (except for the usual hell that is placing objects in general.) I made excessive use of Place Everywhere and Scrap Everything.

Then I went on to Spectacle Island. And by now I might end up as a feral decorating hermit.

But... some of my objects don't want to stay in place. Whenever I go to another area of the island, whenever I go to sleep, reload, do anything that requires my home area to load... things shift ever so slightly. If I just let them they will even wander on.

By now I'm in war with a Drunken Gnome, a lifesaver, a napkin, a newspaper and some deskfiles.

I gave up on a mop, because that thing went straight to the roof twice.

A teddybear and a coffee can surrendered to my maniac endeavors. It feels like everytime I'm not around or close my eyes, someone wanders in to rearrange the furniture.

I just have no idea why this happens and I'm really curious. Besides, I couldn't find a topic on this (might be my stupidity in searching, but I usually find a solution to my issues quite quick around here. So if anyone has an idea, please let me know.

Of course I do ;) I proudly confirm that some of my haunted objects are OCD's.

Haven't looked at what OCDecorator does script wise but here's my guess:

OCDecorator does apply a non-havoc script "Onload()" meaning that the objects only are static when they are loaded.

In the meantime NPCs trample over your stuff and leave it elsewhere.

I know that from placing mines that wandered off while my character was elsewhere

Well that's just bizarre...... Is physics getting weird, or do they just not like to stay in place?

It never moved when I looked or stayed close by. It was just out of place, somewhere in the air, through the ground, to the side... Every object had a different direction. I tested reloading and that made it worse every time I did it. Loading after starting the game always worked with an older safe, but from then on it got messy. Messy enough that I scraped everything today, as more and more objects started freaking.

I never encountered that with OCD before. I.e. I decorated a cafeteria with meals for over 20 virtual eaters in Vault 88. Every fork handplaced, OCD stuff only. I've got 37 people living in a quite small enclosure and they usually spawn in that place when I arrive. I found floating stuff maybe twice. And I am not sure if that wasn't my mistake.

Beside, after things went postal on Spectacle Island (where except for me no one is) I checked the Vault to see if I had the same issues there. Did the reload game again and no changes at all. Everything in it's place.

Sounds like a Morrowind experience...... that was a problem with physics..... You would walk into a room, and things would literally explode all over the place. If was interesting to watch, but, truly depressing in the room you had just spent hours decorating...... I even wrote a mod to log where everything was when you left a room, and replace back to the exact same spot when you returned.

@HeyYou You mean Oblivion, MW didn't have physics. Well it had three physics...

Nope. Morrowind. It was famous for exploding rooms. Oblivion did as well. :)

But, it was pretty much the same problem. Things did not stay where you put them. A fair bit of the time, they were nowhere NEAR where you put them.......

Ah okay you mean wandering objects. I kind of hoped you were hinting at a mod that gave objects havoc physics

But yeah wandering objects in FO4 can be spotted when placing mines, so maybe it affects other objects too.
