New in Morrowind and here

But....I am older than most of you here I'll bet. I was old when Pong came out. I just started playing Morrowind a few months ago. I have played CRPG's for decades and used to love the old Ultima games. In fact Morrowind is the first RPG I have played since U-7 that recaptures some of the old magic. I like this game so much that I have even inserted some of my favorite music from U-6 and U-7. I found this forum and this site while looking to learn more about this game and the universe in which it exists.

Greetings all,

Hello and welcome! :)

Great to find someone else who likes U7 - I've yet to find another game which allows the same amount of item interaction (baking bread was fun!!!), and has anything like the NPC schedules...

Also good to see that Morrowind appeals to a wide age range...the oldest Morrowind players I know of - though I don't think they post here...yet - are over 60.

.

I am over 60 (by a few months). I have been computer gaming since text mainframe games in the 60's. I played Zork and some of the early Ultimas on an Apple ][. The first PC game I got hooked on was Empite by Intersil. I played many games of that on my old B&W Compaq 286 notebook while flying to Asia and back a number of times in the 80's. My favorite RPGs are Ultima-6 and 7 and I have played Ultima 9. U-9 was not so bad once the hardeware caught up with the ineficient coding of the game and if you used some of the plug ins like the one that let you put in your own avatar name.

I liked Baludors Gate and Neverwinter Nights but I really like Morrowind. Right now the only games I am playing are Morrowind, CIv III and VGA Planets.

There are lots of us "Old Guys" who play. In fact my wife (lots younger than me I might add but still older than most of you) LOVES Dungeon Seige. I had to upgrade her Vid card so she could get higher fps while playing it for the umpteent time.

BTW, if you liked Ultims 7, put some of the music from U-7 into Morrowind to replace some of the music that is already there. It really takes you back. :-)

Thanks, and by the way, I am 60 but I am NOT OLD!.

DOS, you mean..... C:\ CD\Ultima6 U6,.....now how hard was that :-)

I must admit that having a different config.sys for each game was a pain.

I remember vividly having to make boot up disks for U7 Black Gate...all I ever learned about DOS was because of U7, and the challenge to make it run on my 486

And it's true - you are only as old as you allow others to make you feel!
