MadGax
On Fallout 4 I like to use multiple profiles depending on what I am doing.I recently did a clean wipe of Fallout 4 and uninstalled all the fallout 4 mods and deleted all the profiles I had for FO4.Reinstalled FO4, started a new game via steam, exited and reset up Vortex.I created 5 copies of my unmodded game, choosing yes and yes for saves/settings, and commenced to modding the first profile. At one point I ran into a problem and ended up with purple outfits, which I know means missing textures. After some ties to resolve the missing textures I switched over to the second profile for a fresh start and started enabling mods and leaving out any clothing mods, started up a new game and noticed I was wearing a skimpy version of clothing I had enabled with another mod on the first profile.I have asked about this before and was informed that bleed overs are impossible, but this sure feels like a bleed over.Am I doing something wrong when creating profiles? The only thing I have done outside of vortex is put custom textures in ....\Fallout 4\Data\textures\actors\character\PlayerHumanFemale
nt5raham
I've seen something similar in Skyrim SE with the black face bug. This was an LE follower mod that was ported to SE incorrectly and still utilizes Form 43. I have played it in my regular profile as Form 43 in previous play-throughs with no problems. The face looks normal. This play through I started completely from scratch as @MadGax described, uninstalled Steam, SSE, and Vortex, and moved them to completely different folders to get them out of Program Files(x86). All saves and remnants of the previous installation were deleted. I created a separate test profile, unmodded except for USSEP, with the character still in Helgen at level 1. Then I created my play through profile and started a new game. I installed this mod as Form 43 to test it, and it looked normal. I created a save as a reference point. Then I saved the plugin through CK to update it to Form 44, and got the black face bug. I saved it again as a reference. I then Uninstalled the mod and deleted the archive, reinstalled it (Form 43), and started the game using a prior save before it had been installed initially. Black face bug. I uninstalled it, deleted the archive, and installed it (Form 43) using the "test" profile at level 1 in Helgen with no mods except USSEP. Black face bug. I've used this mod numerous times as Form 43 in the past, and never had the black face bug before saving it in CK. I'm not concerned about the black face (more needs to be updated with the mod, no biggie). I'm concerned that the black face problem persists across profiles, and in a profile/save that has never seen the Form 44 update. There does seem to be some type of bleed over. Zanderat
I haven't used the profile system too extensively. So take this with a grain of salt. When switching profiles, I have always re-deployed. The profiles seem to be what I expect them to be.
nt5raham
Agreed @Zanderat. Switching profiles quickly takes me from my play profile to my test profile. Hundreds of mods are automatically disabled as part of the deployment process, which in turn removes hundreds of plugins. That aspect works as expected. It is the unexpected that concerns us. As I understand it, there is supposed to be a concrete wall between profiles. In my scenario, the test profile has a save that is "virgin" except for USSEP. I expect it to be "pure" and untainted by the shenanigans I may pull in another profile. In this case, installing this mod and keeping the Form 43 version should yield the same result as before, namely the face should look normal as it has in prior play-throughs. Updating it to Form 44 (and CK being unable to update the face) is what caused the black face bug. Since that has never been done in this "pure" test profile then the face should look normal (and @MadGax should not be seeing skimpy clothing). MadGax
I found that the Textures folder for my NPC's was still holding nif files and jacking up my NPC bodies. I deleted the folder and reinstalled some mods and cleared up the issue.I did find a newly released video from Gopher on youtube that explained it better. And I now understand how creating a variant install of a mod separate from another profile.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wX7bf48jYFw
