alasalius
I am using scrap everything and in some settlements there are pre-war telephone poles that can be scrapped. The problem is that the wires connected to them get left behind and can't be scrapped. Is there a mod that can achieve this or is there a way to get rid of them in Creation Kit? Been searching the forums and Google and can't find anything having to do with this. Thx in Advance! Al
DocMoebius
or is there a way to get rid of them in Creation Kit? Been searching the forums and Google and can't find anything having to do with this. Thx in Advance! AlThe normal wires(not the ones that are actually objects) themselves are always connected between two "SplineEndpointMarker"s. You need to "toggle markers on" in the CK to actually see them, for instance by pressing the hotkey "M". I wouldn't delete them though because this might lead to some unexpected behavior in case some other things in the game somehow reference them. What you can do is A) move both SplineEndpointMarkers below the ground so that you don't see them anymore or B) double click on the wire and the choose the option "initially disabled" so that the wire is hidden - that's at least how I would do it. Regardless of whatever you choose, A or B, you always want to make sure that you don't touch any other stuff so that you don't break precombines - which will tank your performance. RedRocketTV has some really good videos about precombines and how to avoid breaking them(using the layer system of the CK) and how to recreat them for a certain area in case you mess up. Here is a screenshot of how these SplineEndpointMarkers look in the CK: Edited July 4, 2020 by DocMoebius
alasalius
Thx for the info. I'm really new to this CK stuff I'm a truck driver by trade, but I did happen to find the markers and the wires. I haven't changed anything yet but I do have another question regarding the camera in CK. Is there any way to pan the camera around? any click I do just starts a selection box. DocMoebius
Just a few basics for camera movement: Hold down the space bar and move your mouse to move the camera horizontally or vertically, use the mouse wheel to move back and forth. If an object is selected, hold down shift and move the mouse in the desired direction to rotate around that object. It takes some time to get a hang of it but it will feel natural after a while. I strongly recommend to watch CK tutorials on youtube about the basics of the CK. There are several great modders who have good tutorials. Secondly, I would make sure that you're not working on an active file while looking at the commonwealth map or any other stuff, because the CK has an auto save function and you might have already broken precombines unintentionally just by clicking at stuff which is then saved to your esp and remains in your mod, which you would then need to clean manually with xEdit. So make sure that you understand the precombine system or the layer system first, so that you know what you're doing when you creat your final version of your mod. You can ofc just mess around and test stuff and see if it fits your needs but learning stuff is always good because it's a great entry to the CK and you might end up doing more cool mods. alasalius
Thx Doc! Think I will check out some videos. I used the "Initially Disabled" check box on a few of the wires just to try it out and then saved the plug in and enable it in Vortex. In game the wires were gone (yay) but everything I had scrapped before that came back and I was unable to scrap anything in the immediate area until I quit and disable the plugin. I'll do some youtube edumacating!
DocMoebius
Unfortunately, I don't know how exactly the "scrap everything mod" interacts with other things and what's gonna happen if you use it in conjunction with other changes, so you will need to do some research. Maybe there's some other way of doing this. What I recommended is just what I came up with ad hoc. In any case, I would recommend to never use the "scrap everything mod" anyways because afaik it does break precombines - if we're talking about the same mod - which absolutaley destroys your FPS if you do it in certain areas. There might be more elegant cleaning mods for certain areas which provide precombines and which maybe also get rid of the power lines.
HeyYou
Most of the wires you can actually scrap with Scrap Everything, it is just REALLY difficult to find the sweetspot so you can actually scrap it. Some, I simply can't find that spot, so, I use the console to disable them.

Some, I simply can't find that spot, so, I use the console to disable them. This is what I would have suggested. First, create a new save. Next open up the console, select the wire, and type disable If this makes the desired object vanish, type markfordelete If disable hides the wrong item, you can just load the earlier save and try again. "Why two steps?" I hear you ask. "Disable" hides the object. "Markfordelete" tells the game to completely remove it. EDIT: Just to clarify, what I would have recommended is HeyYou's answer. HeyYou
If you accidentally disable the wrong object, (it should disappear immediately) you can just type "enable" in the console, and it will come back. No need to load a save.
