Mod staging folder must be empty. Why?

I have FO4 installed with Vortex and was going to use the same folder for FO4VR since most mods are the same and those that are not are clearly labled. But when I try to set the mod staging folder to to FO4\mods it tells me folder must be empty. I don't want to set to another folder because then I'd have to copy all my mods and have two copies of everything. How do I get around this? Thank you.

You temporarily move the FO4 mod folder out of the Mod staging folder, then move them back in when you make the other folder

 

However, I don't think it's going to work, and that you need to have a FalloutVR folder and a Fallout4 folder.

I play Skyrim SE, and Enderal, which is a Skyrim SE Conversion, but I can't use the Skyrim SE Mod staging Folder with Enderal, even though Enderal can use Skyrim SE mods.

Well, I can install from file and then select the FO4/mods folder but I have to do this individually for each file, which is a bit of a pain. At least I don't use vortex for many mods.

How are you having Four copies of everything?

 

All you have to do is copy the Mod Archives from the Download folder that you want to use from Fallout 4, into FalloutVR

You don't need to copy the downloads at all. On the downloads screen you can simply change the "game" filter to Fallout 4 and it will show you the fallout 4 mods even when you're managing Fallout 4 VR.

Sharing a staging folder between games is not supported atm and I'm not convinced it would be a good idea because it wouldn't be obvious to users that if they remove a mod in one game that it will be gone from staging and thereby also for the other game.
