miremekagoji
Vortex 1.2.20Modding Skyrim Legendary Edition, installed through Steam with SKSE120 plugins active including basegame and DLCsWindows 10 Home, 64-bit, 8 GB of installed RAMThree drives (C: D: and F:) This issue started occurring around a few new Vortex updates I missed and then installed. What's happening is that Vortex tells me my mod staging folder isn't on the same drive as the game, which is D:, and my mod staging folder is also on D:, both in the Vortex settings and on File Explorer. Therefore it tells me my mods can't be deployed via hardlink or moving, because the game is on F: and not D:, which is false. I have moved the mod folder back and forth because major issues occur on either drive. The mod staging folder being situated on drive D causes Vortex to refuse deployment, rendering new mods unable to be applied to Skyrim LEThe mod staging folder being situated on drive F placates Vortex and makes deployment available, yet deployment doesn't appear to work at all and newly installed mods Vortex told me were deployed do not show up in my game or their respective folders in Skyrim/Data. I have to end up installing every new mod manually because of this I have been modding for a long time but I may have simply screwed up an option somewhere. Still the issue is stopping me from modding my game any further and I'm not sure what to do.
HadToRegister
Click on GAMES------->MANAGED------>click the + sign in the upper right corner of the game thumbnail, and check the game path, is it correct? If not, then click on MANUALLY set game location"The problem sounds like something was moved OUTSIDE of Vortex, like a folder, by using Window File Explorer rather than Vortex itself. Tannin42
Do what HTR set to figure out where Vortex things the game is installed, you can also go to the mods page and click "Open..."->"Open Game Folder".Check what's in the directory that Vortex thinks is the game folder. Because Vortex checks for the existence of certain game files to verify it has the correct location, so it's very likely that there is a copy of the game or at least part of it in that location. Then depending on what you find you may want to either manually set the game folder as HTR said and/or delete that copy of the game.Another thing is that Vortex probably got that incorrect location of the game from the registry, so you also probably have incorrect registry keys pointing to that other location. Had no idea this was even an option, thanks so much, that fixed it. Turns out I did have a copy of Skyrim on F: since it's the drive I used to port my old PC's content onto my new one, and I haven't cleaned said drive out yet. So it was recognizing that as my main copy. Thanks again, solved
