Xesx
Hello, sorry if this is the wrong place for this but I am not sure how to go about this. I bought a lifetime of premium, as I used to use NMM a lot years before and I wanted to get back into modding Skyrim. Last year I bought premium and it worked splendidly. I was getting around 15-30MB consistently and it made the modding and installing process very easy. I just bought a lifetime of premium because I figured I would give back to NMM for being the wonderful modding platform it is, only to find that it seems that either my download speed is still capped when I am downloading larger files, (for example SMIM which is around 1000MB is only downloading at around 40 to 160KB, whereas smaller mods; around 80 to 90MB, download at a very fast rate, around 16MB / almost instant. My question is, is there a reason as to why I seem to have a cap on my download rate? I know it is not my internet and I am not downloading anything else while downloading mods. I took two speed tests, one while not downloading mods, the other while downloading mods. I have tried every premium server in the United States, aswell as the regular CDN server and all of them boast the same speeds. My download speeds are actually slower than normal, especially the upload, but that would not effect my download rate. Especially when my DL rate is already around 12MB but while downloading mods from Nexux I am only getting around 120kb in the Vortex app. The website seems to acknowledge that I bought premium, as seen in the screenshot below. I bought premium as a way to give back, but the higher download rate was also a nice incentive, anyone else having these issues? if so how did you fix it. It seems I am not the first to have these issues; I have seen in posts before that the admins from NMM seem to just push it off onto the host server and blame them, without actually looking into it; I assume as this problem is still a thing. That in my honest opinion just seems very unprofessional and the fact that they say they cannot do anything about it is a blatant lie because I have worked with server hosts and all it is a phone call as well as actually putting effort into fixing an issue your customers and community has been facing. I don't want to point fingers and say that the NMM admins and devs do not care, because I am sure they do, however; all in all, I wish I looked into this before hand because Nexus and the host server have done nothing to fix it. EDIT: Forgot to post the Vortex DL rate screenshot, it is here : https://imgur.com/a/ZYoc0fx
nt5raham
Part of this is the reality of a speed test versus real world data transfer. The files being downloaded from Nexus are compressed, i.e. they are extremely dense with the normal "open spaces" removed. The transfer rate on compressed files is always going to be lower than uncompressed, whether it is a download from the Internet or simply transferring from one drive to another within the same PC. Also a factor is the compression rate chosen by the mod author. The author who is uploading a very large archive may choose a higher compression rate than a small mod. Increased compression = more dense and slower data transfer rate. Compression does help overall. The total time of compressed vs. uncompressed is going to tip in favor of compressed files. But the rate measure in Mbps or Kbps will make it appear slower. Also, there are variances in server load (how many people are hitting it at once), and there may be something wrong with the download servers. I'm not saying your concern is unwarranted. Just that there are a lot of variables, and this may be "normal" for the conditions at that particular time. Just as a test, I downloaded SMIM. I have a 1Gbps up/down fiber connection that tested at about 945 Mbps. The transfer rate for SMIM varied between about 5MBps and 41MBps according to Vortex, with a shoot-from-the-hip average of about 30MBps.
HadToRegister
Also, have you set this to 10?It allows more parallel connections IIRC
nt5raham
Yes, HTR, another variable. I set mine to 1 for the test. And a correction to my earlier post. Vortex is reporting in MBps, and I said Mbps. So multiply Vortex x8 for an apples to apples comparison with the speed tests.

Thanks for the recommendations. I did not mean to come off as an ass earlier, I was just pissed it took me and hour and a half to download SMIM. Seems to have boosted it a little, but I believe it is just a cap that is set on files that are larger than a GB, as any mod that I dl that is below a GB my internet smashes in like 5 to 10 seconds. Kinda lame, SMIM was like 1008MB which is just barely above the cap I assume.

Try using a VPN Also, did you change your download server to a premium one once you bought Premium? Go to your Nexus Account Page by Clicking NEXUS MODS ^ up at the top menu on this forum Click on your profile picture, and select SITE PREFERENCES from the Drop-Down, the PREFERENCES tab---------->PREMIUM MEMBER PREFERENCES---------->PREFERRED DOWNLOAD LOCATION

Feel like it isn't a problem with my ISP or internet; I feel it is a problem imposed from either the host server's end, or along the way to my pc. Either way it is still shitty. Not much I can think of doing. Everything else, including steam downloads at a consistent 10 to 20MB solid. And yes, I am sure I ma not downloading anything else while downloading mods. Manually installing mods does not help, it is a problem that is not on my end for sure.
