VandalClark
Hello. I have always loved the Fallout stories, and games.. Not so much the people making them. 76 was just them pissing on us... But I still love those that came before.. But I am finding it harder to play with the older graphics, and I have been wanting to find some mods that improve how the NPC's look, and the overall model quality of things I interact with. Not particularly anything sexual. Just visual. If I have to get the sexual stuff along with it to get a visual upgrade that is fine.. Oh, and I am not really looking for anything that makes the game easier. Just to make it look better... Mind you I am REALLY having not experience with using mods very much before, but when I looked on the workshop I found ZILCH that can help with what I want.. I tried one that said it improved piper, and she would up looking like something out of a Lovecraftian novel. I am looking on several different sites, and forums for a solution. I do not mind the NSFW stuff, but I do not want mods that make THAT the focus of the game.. An interesting side quest, or activity sure, but not something you HAVE to do to continue playing. Gunslinger808
For beginning, stick to Nexus mods and a mod manager like Vortex, and only download mods that are automatically done by them. They take a lot of the guesswork and steps out of modding, and load order issues, especially if you download LOOT.Manual downloads are not difficult, but do require more steps and actual moving files into your computer, unless you really screw up, the worse it will do is crash your game, but not your computer. Also, go check out Youtube for tutorials, there are quite a few out there that can answer your questions faster and better than I could by typing you a book. Some of the older ones by a fellow named Gopher are very good if a little out of date, watching his and also newer ones will give you a very good starting point. As to mods, Nexus also breaks them down into categories, you can select specifics from armor to weather, or even most downloaded and endorsed. Also remember to check requirements before downloading a mod, not all are stand alone, many have other mods you need to download in order for them to work properly, and along those lines, check the comment section before downloading a mod.Ive found what I thought were great mods only to read the comments and find that they were either terrible or caused problems. And finally, when you download mods, only do a couple at a time, and play them a while before loading more, that way if there is an issue, it’s easier to track the offending mod.You load 15, it’ll be a real chore to find the one causing problems. Moksha8088
Adding leaves on trees and healthy green grass is the best way to improve the visual quality of Fallout 4. Make sure to look for mods that do not break the previs/precombines in adding these niceties or your game will suffer for it. Additionally, look under Presets ReShade or Presets ENB to find something you like (and your system can support). Vivid Textures All-in-One helps improve the look of your game, and CBBE will improve the look of the women in the game. When you add mods, just do it one at a time to make sure your game still works. Zorkaz
If you use a green mod you might try "Lush Ambience". It adds a living soundscape along with birds and rustling leaves https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/38609

geala
A lot depends on your PC's performance and what it could handle. - You should install a mod with better looking NPCs. For example CBBE for females is a famous example here. For FO4 I stay with vanilla to a certain degree but could not play without the male and female Enhanced Vanilla Bodies by Leito, it's great.- You could install several HD texture mods with a sharper and more detailed look, less blurry. They partly also change proportion and distance feeling and let look the world less cartoony and toylike. They can be taxing on your system. Don't use the Bethesda HD DLC textures.- The biggest changes to FO4 visuals are done by grass or desert mods coupled with tree mods. I use Boston Natural Surroundings 2.0, trees only version, and True Grass mod, and it is such a different feeling, a much better feeling in my case; again, can be quite a hit to performance- Weather mods can add a lot of atmosphere, not only literally. After dozens of mod tests I kept Unified Commonwealth Weather, a mod which brings Far Harbor and Nuka World vanilla weather to the Commonwealth, simple, ingenious and fantastically looking.- A light mod for interior and/or exterior can add a lot to immersion- Finally an ENB or Reshade can greatly improve the visual appearance. For a long time I played FO4 without ENB (what would never have been possible with Skyrim), but it's much better with. Can hit performance severely, depending on the presets. Balx2
I always ended up having issues with Grass Landscape Tree Water mods when I was trying every single one of them. Saw all the sweet pictures with nice ENB's and videos that looked smooth as butter, however I experienced the joys of 8bit gaming all over again. No story short, I ended up with the following mods and merged them all into one esp with ba2. No jacked precombines and only found one single rock that needed to be fixed in the CK, and it's under water so no sane person would normally find it.Vivid Watershttps://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/16425Reflective Waterhttps://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/34419WET Water Enhancement Textureshttps://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/20775Natural Landscapes (2k-4k)https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/38841The Aspen Commonwealthhttps://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/40991True Grasshttps://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/23469
