Vortex keeps DESTROYING my FNIS/XPMSSE installs

I don't use Windows 10. I'm using Windows 7. I do have a brand new copy of Windows 10 but have not installed it since I'm not a fan of that OS's interface. Not a fan of forced updates either since some of those forced updates have bricked some folks' machines...

Then turn on METERED CONNECTION in your internet settings in Win10 to stop automatic updates.

You're in Win7 and having problems with FNIS, and I'm on Win10 and not having a problem.

Maybe that's the problem?

Because so far this is unique to your system

Does Win7 support all of the .netframework updates?

I even have Visual Studio C++ 2019 installed, which is REQUIRED for certain mods on the Nexus to even run properly...

What do you mean by this?

Vortex needs to STOP SCANNING for external changes made to FNIS since all this accomplishes is a corrupted FNIS installation/CTD on load/New Game.

How often are you running FNIS?

I've run it once since I installed 315 mods, and never had to run it again

You make it sounds like Vortex is scanning all the time for changes in FNIS.

Have you tried turning off Windows Defender and reinstalling Vortex?

It's possible that Windows Defender stopped part of your Vortex installation to install (We see that a LOT in here)

I have to rerun FNIS after each session in Vortex. Each time I install a mod, it scans for external changes. The pop-up shows FNIS as being changed. I then hit Save Change. Mind you I'm in the middle of a total rebuild of Skyrim SE so I've yet to start a playthrough. The game CTDs after selecting New Game. A rerun of FNIS from my taskbar fixes this issue & allows my game to load after New Game is selected. This is how I know Vortex is bungling my FNIS install after each session...

I don't experience that.

Like I said, I ran FNIS two years ago on my current install and have never had to run it again.

Have you tried using "USE NEWER" instead of Save Changes? when the External Changes thing comes up?
