gnarly1
I want to play MW via openMW and also have a vanilla MW install (plus all the fixes, MWSE, MGEXE etc) for modding. Is the 'best' method to make a copy of the Data Files folder and point openMW at that?
HadToRegister
That's what I did, but you can also just point it at MW folder, but I wanted completely separate installsYOu have to make sure you copy EVERYTHING though, because I ended up with missing Interface parts because I didn't realize I needed the Meshes, Textures folders, and just thought I needed the ESM, ESP and BSASo, Entire Data Files folder, EVERYTHING in it.You can put it right in the OpenMW folder just like the original gameThere's also a version of WryeMash by Polemos for OpenMWIt still needs work, because it's slightly different to use than regular WryeMash, but I got it working once I understood how it was doing things
gnarly1
<snippity>Thanks for your help. I used WryeMash last time I modded MW several years ago but I'm using MO2 this time. Would you recommend Polemos' fork of WryeMash for openMW rather than MO2 or is it really just personal preference?

I didn't know that MO2 could handle the strange way that OpenMW adds mods (in the .OpenMW.cfg file)
