im sure this has been asked countless times but every tutorial i have tried has failed And ive been going at this for several hours its really getting on my nerves. Im on Windows10 and for some reason i have permission to access these folders but i cant give vortex access to them i also cant unmark them as read only i try to but several files say access denied not all of them so i just ignore these but after 3-4 minuet process of it unmaking everything it just undoes it? I have access to the WindowsApps folder where it is stored but don't have access to the game files itself i don't even have permission to view the games security settings but i can still play it fine. If you need more details i will try to answer any questions also i have been messing with these setting for so long i dont know what correct any more so just a little summary of all steps would be nice

The only game i want to mod is subnautica It is located in windowsapps and i got it through xbox gamepass

Yea, you can't mod Xbox Gamepass games.

ANY of them.

Xbox Gamepass makes a Folder that's like a Virtual Hard Drive, and there's no way to access any of the files or even open the folder.

I tried the same thing when I was playing Subnautica on Xbox Gamepass, I ended up buying the game on Steam, because I lucked out and it was on sale.

There are GamePass games that can be modded if the game explicitly implements mod support.

"MS Flight Simulator" for example has the mods in a directory separate from the game.

Other games, like Halo Master Chief Collection, install to ModifiableWindowsApps instead of WindowsApps. Not sure how the mechanism there works but as the name suggests, that folder is modifiable.

For the majority of games though, windows store games are indeed not moddable.
