Strobelight
RIGHT. No nonsense now, I'm really really bored and I wanna watch something good, something scary - REALLY scary. I love films that are shocking. The kind of horror films that show you some really messed up, shocking images and really scare you, make you cry, bite your covers in half etc. I've always loved horrors, and I've always loved being scared but because I've watched so many, they have a lesser effect on me. The scariest film I've seen so far has been 'Grave Encounters', I love the Found Footage film genre, Blair Witch Project, Paranormal Activity etcetera. But they aren't scary anymore, just- old footage for me. Please tell me that i'm still a noobie, and that there are loads of amazing films for me to watch, please. some suggestions, please :) Edited February 11, 2013 by Strobelight
JimboUK
If you've not seen them then have a look at the evil dead films, they're showing their age slightly now but are still brilliant. They're on both Netflix and Lovefilm.
Strobelight
You know what, I was just trying to remember some really weird film I'd watched as a kid the other day, and I couldn't remember the name of it. Thank god you came along, that was it. I'd seen the very first Evil Dead ages ago, at least when I was 10 or 11 years old. I think I'll go watch them all... thanks!
RitualBlack
I have never watched a movie that has had lasting effects but guess if you want 'shocking' there is always Faces of Death (1978). It fits your 'found footage' category though with that one you probably should see what you are getting into first. It is a mondo film, I wouldn't really call it a horror movie. While staying within the horror catagory I would recommend the following five movies in order of how much I like them: Dead Alive-Not really scary but it is horror themed (Like Evil Dead 2) and pretty funny at the same time.Bad Taste-More sci-fi but it has the same director as Dead Alive. It too has some funny parts.Videodrome-A dark movie dealing with taboo topics. More of a psychological horror than anything else. The Beyond-Overall good horror film.Suicide Club-A very strange movie from Japan ;D . You will not jump from it but it works its way into you while your watching. To be honest I have never really been interested in new horror films so I am probably missing quite a few movies that could be worth watching. The only sort of recent horror movies I enjoyed were 28 Days Later and The Mist.
Brittainy
Cannibal Holocaust is rather fitting if you feel like being disturbed. However, it's definitely more grotesque / grim than 'scary' :ermm:
Thor.
Aliens series, especially the latest one. Prometheus
billyro
I've never liked horror movies. In fact, I hate them! Too scary! :O I can remember watching this movie at highschool a few years ago (can't remember the name of the movie) but I was up the back (luckily)... and every time I knew something was going to jump out and scare the sh-- out of me, I'd hide. It was ok though because everyone in the room screamed and my friend hid as well. :) The only movie (which I consider horror) that I wasn't scared of, was that Wolfman movie that came out in 2010. I reckon that the violence was too over-exaggerated in that movie that it broke me free of the freakiness. I remember a guy was chucked out through a glass window and got impaled on a spiked fence... like, what are the chances of that happening? It was so dumb... That's the cure: criticize how silly the movie is, then you don't get scared! :D While gore is quite nice, and I enjoy people getting torn to shreds by stuff, I generally don't like horror oriented stuff. Yeah, I'm weak. :P Edited March 24, 2013 by billyro

Ironman5000
I've been watching horror films since I was very young (too young some would say) so I have started to find them boring and predictable, i've seen every kind of death in so many scenarios so it's very very hard to shock me anymore. I did watch Cabin in the Woods the other day, which was technically a horror but at the same time was a kind of parody of the whole horror movie genre which kept me interested, then the whole film gets flipped upside down about half way through which was pretty cool.
