I had no hand in the port so am unsure of its capabilities. I can tell you this, the LE version has its issues. It works fine for short periods (when it works) but the longer the side by side is active the more likely issues will be seen as the AI fights with itself on what to do. The best variation of the idea that I have seen is the follower Vilja. Her author took my mod, broke it down and applied the side-by-side ability directly within the NPCs AI logic rather than grafting on-top as has to be done with the stock followers. THINK there's at least one other I have that copied Emma, and put it in the custom AI.... I think that's going to be how you do this consistently.... by choosing followers which can be commanded to do this within their own UI because they have the AI for it.
