Power failure during deployment: outcome?

This is the Reddit post that I'm referencing: https://www.reddit.com/r/skyrimmods/comments/jee3ed/vortex_suddenly_saying_all_of_my_mods_are/

I opened Vortex today and it asked me if I wanted to backup and repair for absolutely no reason. So I proceeded with that. I deployed the mods I changed and it asked me if I wanted to delete 100354 files. So I did it assuming Vortex knows what it is doing. I was then given the option to restore my old vortex state. So I did that. Deployed again and now everything I have is redundant and I am missing masters and plugins like crazy. Apparantly Vortex doesnt have a clue what it is doing so I thought I would post here to get some further instructions before I break things more.

It was a cascade of bad decisions made recklessly.

I love that at every point the idiot made his decision, he's put the blame firmly on the tool. Almost as if he had no free will to stop for a moment, and try to understand the consequence of the decision by....oh i don't know, going to the Vortex support forums and asking for help/guidance/advice.

Thing is, if that idiot actually understood what he was doing, he'd be able to remediate his folly and be back to a good state in just a few minutes, except he kept doing the wrong thing at every turn.

100% Vortex issue because it cannot, ever, be the responsibility of the idiot sat in the chair next to the keyboard.

Not going to lie, that post made me laugh.

You've essentially recounted my somewhat more polite reply to him in his Reddit post. Of course I made somebody-or-other "frown" and got down-voted for it, even though it was precisely what he needed to hear.

Yes. That's why it's asking. Because it knows. Don't you also only ask questions when you already know the answer? *sigh*

I love this group of users:

"I know how to use computers, it's easy!

Rule 1: When you see an 'Ok', 'Yes', 'Continue' or 'Apply' button, stop thinking and click it as quickly as you can.

Rule 2: If something doesn't work, curse then reinstall to start from scratch"

Those requests for help are always the most frustrating.

The person will post their problem, and run through each step, and it's ALWAYS at step ONE, if they had STOPPED, and come in here and asked for help, it would've been as simple as something like "Purge your mods first"

But it always snowballs to where they have an unrecoverable mess, and then basically say "Vortex is garbage, I'm switching to something else" without realizing, if they had stopped at step one, and didn't proceed to do a whole bunch of "Superstitious Steps" such as Uninstall/Reinstall, or Moving directories and files outside of Vortex etc, that the problem was as easy to fix as pressing a button.

... and then basically say "Vortex is garbage, I'm switching to something else" ....

It's very difficult to counter these "testimonials", too, since any attempt to do so is likely to be down-voted, thus nullifying any value the objective response might have had.

which is why i never go on reddit. it is a cesspit.

All of humanity is the cesspit, then. Learn to coexist in the cesspit or find a way to leave. Would you now like to guess the motivation of my username? Hint: I'm trying to recover my lost return ticket.
