ADragonCalledGeorge
I have tried many things from mods to editing the ini. Sadly nothing works but I want to change where Skyrim puts it's saved games since I have very little space on my computer. I want to change the location to my external hard-drive. Is this possible? Or must I buy more space or keep deleting my saves? Many thanks in advance!!

SeraphUziel
OK guys. for this problem my roommate found a working solution that now with no problems saves Skyrim to a different drive. I now have my OS SSD unburdened by game saves of any kind. http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-files/redirecting-the-target-of-my-documents-folder/83052359-37db-4500-9518-9ca49fb222dc Hope this helps you out too. Deleted10959078User
Step by step for Windows: 1.) Go to your Skyrim save location. (Probably: C:\Users\<your username>\Documents\My Games\skyrim)2.) Right click on "Skyrim.ini" (If you don't see the "ini" part, just right click the file that says "Skyrim").3.) Hover over "Open with" and select Notepad or Wordpad or any other word editing program you want to use.4.) At the top of the document, click on an open line directly under "sLanguage=ENGLISH" and type:SLocalSavePath=<insert custom directory here> There you go. Madmaxneo
I know it has been awhile but I was recently led to this thread from someone on Steam when I had asked how to change my saved game location for Skyrim. The fix above did not work for me. In fact it made it so that none of my saves were accessable to be loaded up. To even try to get into a game I had to start a new game, once I got past the lengthy intro and into the game I hit save. Then I tried to load what I had saved, and there weren't any saves to load up. I tried it several times to no avail. I had to delete that .ini entry and restore my files back to My Documents on the C drive to be able to play my saved games. Here is what I had typed into the .ini file to change the saved game path: SLocalSavePath=D:\SteamLibrary\SteamApps\common\Skyrim\Saves Is there another entry I need to put to access the new file path? lostjohnny
Madmaxneo - I've not tried it myself, but I suspect that as well as changing the .ini entry you'd also have to manually copy your saves from the default folder to the new folder for them to be usable. Madmaxneo
The problem is I did manually transfer the files, but it still did not work. Maybe there is something I am missing in the whole process.....
SuperJohnDanger
Yeah, I added that entry into the skyrim.ini file as well, and transferred my saves as well. it's even more tricky. Is there really no way to do this?
