MakoQc
I've noticed that when downloading huge mods on Vortex, my download speed doesn't go over 800kb/s. I've paid for a premium account to make it so that I can have faster speed downloading huge mods and they seem to be limited anyway?. Smaller file (under 250mb) download at my usual 13mb/s.Am I doing something wrong? Is there anything I can do?
nt5raham
There are a couple of things you can check. In Vortex, go to Settings > Download. If you haven't already done so, try changing the Download Threads slider to 10. Also, click on the "i" and read the information next to Download Threads. In Nexus, go to https://www.nexusmods.com/users/myaccount and go to Preferences > Premium Membership Preferences and look at your Preferred Download Location. What server is listed there? As I understand it, CDN will auto select based on load, etc. If you have selected a particular server, it may be bogged down, so you can try a different server close to you. I usually just leave it at CDN, and I've noticed that results can vary, but it is usually fast on large downloads.
MakoQc
Its already set to CDN and from what I saw when testing the threads, it doesn't change anything, it even makes it slower from what I tested. Tried Chicago servers and its slower.
HadToRegister
Did you, after you became a member...1. Log out of the Nexus and log back in?2. Log out of Vortex and log back in?3. Cancel any downloads you had queued before you became a member, and restart a new download?
rmm200
Also, for download issues, follow this guideline:Â https://help.nexusmods.com/article/92-im-having-download-issues-what-can-i-do
MakoQc
I did all the logging out already. I've just noticed now that large files have slower download speeds than the smaller ones. I tested downloading a Fallout 4 of about 50 mb and it went up to 13 mb/s, then I tried downloading a 2gb mod of weapons retextures and it downloads under 1mb/s. The problem isn't my ISP since I can download 13mb/s on steam on a 115gb game. This is frustrating since I bought premium in the hopes of not having to wait a bunch for a mod to download.I logged out again right after writing all of this to see if it changes anything and it didn't.I'm from Canada, got good internet and I don't use a VPN. nt5raham
I feel your frustration! It sounds like the next step is to follow the guide listed by @rmm200. Post the results using the format indicated in the guide and it will help the powers-that-be figure it out.
MakoQc
Ok so I tried Los Angeles, which is on the West Coast, I'm on the East Coast and now I get 5mb/s averageThis is better, i'll keep it that way.I don't know what's going on with CDN and Chicago but they are slow AF. nt5raham
All other things being equal, sometimes a particular server just gets hit harder with requests than others. CDN normally, but not always, will work around this. Glad you got it working better.
